Light weight 280ai

This is my first post, I hope this is in the correct spot. Does anyone have a less expensive light weight stock they prefer? I’m gathering parts for a 700la 280ai build. A McMillan stock glass and pillar bedded from my gunsmith is almost 1000 bucks. Would like to know what other people have experience with.

Its not a McMillan but you might take a look at the B&C stocks. Some really like them and some don't, they aren't going to be as lightweight as a McMillan Edge fill stock but cost less then half the price and you can find them used on occasion. Or maybe one of the AG Composites stocks?? Not a fan of the ergos on them but a bit less cost than a McMillan.

See if you can track down a takeoff stock from someone who replaced theirs. Depending on the model Remington has rifles with stocks from B&C, HS Precision and Grayboe. When I bought my 5R Gen2 I immediately removed the stock and replaced it with my KRG X-ray, selling the HS Precision off for a pretty healthy discount. It was a pretty nice stock though.

This is the exact stock I used on my .280AI build, made by AG composites. Excellent stock, just as well made as McM or Manners. At that price, its gonna be hard to beat. To me the ergos are very similar to the Manners MCS-T.
