Besides the mk5, is there anything else comparable in the same price range that is maybe lighter weight?
Looking for a mid range (3-18ish) type optic that’s no heavier than the 26oz mk5.

I have a rifle that isn’t bad when stripped down, but the dmr3 and rings that I had on there really pile the weight on that rig.

If there’s something lighter that has a top end mag of around 14-16, that would work also.

Looking for the same for a crossover scope....

I believe the Mk5HD is a 35mm tube, but my search keeps bringing me back to the Mk5HD and the Tangent Theta 3-15x50M (30mm).

SHV could fit the bill, but I'm looking for better glass and more generous eyebox near higher power.

Burris XTR3 3-18 comes in at 29 oz, but I haven't been able to finger-fondle one yet.

Yes, it’s 35mm, I just prefer the larger tube. I’ve got 4 other optics, all 34mm.
I had a xtr3, a few of them actually since release and they are nice, but I prefer the dmr3/xrs3 a lot over them. Glass is noticeably more clear, to me anyways.
I can’t tell a difference looking through the new bushnell elites, and the mk5. But the bushnell are cheaper, and heavier.

I've owned the mk5 3.6-18 and 5-25×56, the latter is SIGNIFICANTLY superior in every optical category

I have searched high and low for the ideal lightweight FFP scope and I can tell you that you're not going to get much under 30oz with a 34mm tube, if you drop to 30mm tube you have more options, but the Mark 5 is one of the lightest. There are some more MPVO's on the horizon but doubtful they'll be in the price range you're looking at.

I understand you're trying to stay with 34mm so you can switch and swap rings/mounts, etc. but as you're finding it is somewhat limiting.

One scope popped to mind, the older Leupold Mark6 3-18x44 has a 34mm tube, these scopes are more rare these days but should find them every now and then popping up in the classifieds... they are even lighter than the Mark 5 at 23.6 oz

I'd like to hear a little more about the MPVOs on the Horizon😃

Looks cool but I'm not excited about ultra short and the 42mm objective, I'd bet the eye box and image quality will suffer.
I really wish someone would make a higher end (sub $3000) 50mm optic with a top end of 15-20 power that weighed under 28 oz and would mount properly on integral base LA receivers.
I'm really happy with my fx 4.5-28 but the short tube isn't going to work on my Bat Vesper action☹

The Tangent Theta M or H series is currently the answer.

I'm dying for ZCO to push out a lightweight version of their 4-20x50 though. *cough @gebhardt02 cough*

You might check with Mountic Outdoors on his Black Friday deals. He’s had open boxes less than $4k. I picked up one for barely over $3k new from a different vendor. I’ve seen them in the PX for barely over or under $3k.
He has a super BF sale right now on TT 5-25... mounticoutdoors.com (he is a Hide dealer)

Wow! Just looked at that deal, damn good deal. Wish I was in the market for one.
I wasn’t even in the market, but I know a deal when I see one.
    Tangent Theta 3-15x50M (30mm).
    Yep.
Lightweight and 34mm tubes, just don't go together. The March 4.5-28x52 is 29oz, but a significant step up in optical quality......and price.
That’s the only one other than the TT315M.

The temptation in the mean time will be not to pick up the new March 1.5-15 FFP... it checks a lot of the same boxes.

I'd love to snag one and compare it head to head with the theoretical, mythical, possible ZCO 2-16/4-20 light when it comes out.

I hope the March is rad. BUT a 10.6” long, 10x erector, 42mm objective, and March’s historical tight eyebox & finicky parallax will keep me from being an early adopter. Fingers crossed that the March is a home run though….I’ve got an ATACR that should be nervous about becoming homeless. 🤣
