Limbsaver for Magpul PRS

Re: Limbsaver for Magpul PRS

I've not seen anything. I've just ordered a grind to fit and got to grinding the contour of the bottom to match the stock. I've not ground the sides to match the shape though.

Re: Limbsaver for Magpul PRS

I bought the slip over limbsaver for my PRS when I had it on my .50 AR Upper ...think it was Med.Size that fit ? Got tired of waiting for the Factory PRS Limbsaver....
and yea...whats with the scope ..LOL

Re: Limbsaver for Magpul PRS

You can order the whole stock from Bushmaster. It's a little pricey as I recall but you can sell your existing one to make up the difference. Bear in mind, the one from Bushmaster comes with the 223 cheek rest but it can be switched as with a 308 version if you need to.

Re: Limbsaver for Magpul PRS

Thanks to everyone for their responses....
Since I have 4 of the Magpuls, buying 4 new ones is not an option!
I will check Limbsavers catalog and try to find a grind-to-fit pad that will fit.

Thanks again....

Re: Limbsaver for Magpul PRS

BTW.. with the grind to fit I had to drill out holes to align with the PRS holes as the factory Limbsaver holes don't match. I also had to mill a bit out of the back of the holes I drilled to accept the short bolts from the factory pad. I'm sure you could skip this step and just get longer bolts with the proper thread from the hardware store. Here is the pad I used:

Re: Limbsaver for Magpul PRS

What would you guys think of an adaptor for that would replace the factory pad and allow for the use of a limbsaver?

I'd be in for one as well. Really don't like the stock solid rubber pad that comes on the PRS.

I'd like a flatter surface instead of curved and at least 1/4" of real rubber that will comfortably conform to your shoulder. Perhaps a Pachmayr Decellerator would be the perfect material. Wider would also be nice as well.

Here's a link to what I think is the ideal buttpad rubber:

Anything would be an upgrade to the stock pad though!

If we could somehow source just the plastic/aluminum backing and put on a pachmayr decelerator ground to the size of the first steop on that backing plate, we'd be in business.

I think the setup in the photo is just a bit to big and cumbersome for the majority of applications (mine is a 308 Win).

I'm emailed the company to see if they might entertain such an option.

The adapter piece is available as a stand alone part from Brownells item# 100-006-322.

Per the dimensions listed for The Pachmayr D750B in large field size,

and Per the dimensions for The Pachmayr F325 in the large field size,

There is only 0.10" difference in width, length is the same... Unless i'm way off base, the D750B large would bolt right on and at most you would have to shave 0.10" off of the adapter width.... Obviously if you wanted a smaller "footprint" pad like your medium size you would need to "shave" the adapter approximately 0.20"L x 0.25"W...

Pachmayr selection guide at Midway:
Pachmayr application chart at Midway.

Would be cool if ZEL/Tactilite offered that adapter in a stacked/layered interlocking format that would let you pick the closest size to the pad size you wanted to use...

Re: Limbsaver for Magpul PRS

IA Rifle, yes as I dug into it further, the detail you posted became very apparent.

If you could grind the rear levels off and screw on any number of Pachmayr buttpads, this would become an excellent solution.

I've placed a call into the company about perhaps considering this project. I'm hoping they pick it up.

Re: Limbsaver for Magpul PRS

This has been done... sort of....

About a year- year and a half ago.. (?) I purchased this, as a complete set, from a member that had 10 of them. Not sure how it all got set up, but it came with a new rear plate with adjusting rod and alignment rod, the butt pad and a new top screw(shorter). The fit and finish is superb. But, the pad is a "RemCell".

I have inquired since to the seller about getting another one, but was told "gone, no more"... ??

It seems to me there would be a pretty large demand for these, I don't understand why somebody doesn't pick up the ball and run with it.

Re: Limbsaver for Magpul PRS

Interesting..... Looks like there are a lot of possibilities here.

I happened to ping Mark LaRue to get his thoughts on the project. He showed some interest in putting something together in a prototype for T&E.

I'll keep everybody posted if he comes up with a viable solution.

the remcell is a limbsaver with remington stamp...even has "limbsaver" right below the remington R. i would like one of these for my PRS on my 50bmg lower.

Re: Limbsaver for Magpul PRS

i have not been able to get a reply from bushmaster. i did try to call ZEL and see what pachmyer pad they use to get a model number and cross reference for a limbsaver and see if that would work since the plate is available from brownells.

example: if they used pachmyer pad XXX-1234 and that fit a rem 700 adl wood stock, then we would just need to find the same limbsaver for that model and should fit the adapter.

just my thought...

Call Bushmaster and they will sell you the whole PRS setup or just the rearbuttplate with the Limbsaver pad on it.

Re: Limbsaver for Magpul PRS

It seems like it wouldn't be difficult to do this yourself and I've been considering giving it a go to see how it turns out.

I mean, technically, you'd just need to bore two holes through the limbsaver where they will line up properly with the PRS pad and then insert the screws through the limbsaver, securing then both to the stock.

I thought maybe they discontinued it but an answer would have been cool.

Might give them a call sometime about it but now just about all of my Christmas funds are spent or saved for bills and the stinking land tax that was due on the 20th of December.

Re: Limbsaver for Magpul PRS

ordered PRS adapter from brownells, limbsaver LARGE grind to fit fits pretty close. i wont change this setup personally. you will not need to modify the limbsaver to work. it fits and is a close match without much trouble. mike from Zel's asked why i would not use the pacmyer.. i just prefer the limbsaver. no other opinion...im sure pacmyer has improved the design but old ones made me try new options.....

Nooooo, not at all. The stock thin piece of rubber or huge, soft cushion...well, hold on. MAYBE?

I assume that you replaced the rubber that was on the PRS?? as opposed to using it to further extend the LOP???

I ask because I already have the extended rubber from Magpul and the LOP is too short for me.

Re: Limbsaver for Magpul PRS

If your wanting one (the right one).

I happen to have one left. It replaced the entire rear end of the PRS. It is a simple and easy fix and you can put it back to stock if you decide to get rid of it (then you can keep the adapter).

Looks like this.....
