I'm actually wanting to sell it to buy a bolt gun again......
RR 2 stage trigger
WOA 18" 1/7 barrel
In reality my biggest problem is consistency. The rifle shoots under and inch at 100 I just dont feel comfortable behind it. In fact I got a 1 inch 200 yard group with it last week using 69SMK's.
I was just hoping there was a good right up somewhere on semi-auto technique compared to a bolt gun.
I think a big part of it is that 90% of my shooting is done with a 1911 shooting USPSA and IDPA. So when I get a pistol grip in my hand I want a really high hold and firm grip. This moves my hand way out of position for the trigger and I can see the gun recoiling sideways somewhat.
</div></div>There was a quick vid (don't even remember where I saw it...maybe utube) of Lowlight giving some tips on the AR platform, and he addressed that exact issue. Not to get too high on the grip so that your trigger finger was coming straight back, and also not "dragging wood" (not riding on the side fo the receiver/grip area). He also mentioned that the AR's have three recoils to deal with...two rearward, and one forward. I was reminded this last trip to also load the bipod by leaning into it a little, and to follow through with the trigger pull. I don't think I fired two shots the same way all day. I was having a hard time getting the rifle to come straight back, too. I really like the SA/AR platform, and like the challenge of becoming proficient. Lots to think about, but it's a matter of just shooting, shooting, and more shooting and making sure you're not repeating bad habits...like anything else. </div></div>
I just watched that video on the main SH page. Very interesting stuff that I'd never thought of before, and will have to put it to use on my next trip to the range.
Gotta get signed up for the online training, since the little bits I've seen have been extremely helpful!
