When I met Terry Knister, he told me he was also licensed in Mississippi. His number is 504-569-1865. I do not think there is an actual requirement to meet face to face, so he may either be able to help you or, at least, point you towards someone. Good luck.

Not any longer apparently.

I emailed him about moving my trust from FL to GA. Sounds like he only does criminal defense type stuff.

Just found out from my attorney the trust example on Hooper's website is legal in Virginia. Just change everything to Virginia that says other state.

Thanks Hooper!

They did my NFA trust. The guy is actually a gun nut himself. They have different versions, from basic $250 to $1000, and the money also goes towards full estate planning later on if you wish. We got the $500 one and it has both me and my wife as trustees and tranfers the stuff to my old army buddy if anything happens to us. It overrides a will regarding arms and arms related stuff that you put in it. Also allows us a lot of flexibility, we can add people and remove people, thus allowing them to be able to use our gear while legally protecting us. My wife, she can buy and sell gear in the trust with or without me and vice versa. It belongs just as much to her as to me. Anyone else we assign as beneficiaries can use items as well, but not sell or buy or loan items. Pretty cool.

Considering what all the trust does, it is WAAAAAY better than just doing it the old fashion way. It would be worth it, now that I have one and know more about it, even if I still had to get the CLEO signature.

Found one for New Mexico and Colorado,

http://arsenalattorney.cwsit.com/

Matthew has been great to work with, it takes a simple questionnaire, a phone call and about a week. The trust that I have received came with a full set of instructions and very clear language on how to utilize the trust, and very clear instructions on how my NFA items will be handled when I die.

I sent an email on a sat night and had an email response with in a few hours, Matthew is on the ball, and I believe that he is one for "customer service."

I am pleased and figured I would pass on the info, I had been looking for someone for awhile and did not want to go with the guys out of Florida.

I was not impressed with this guy. His paralegal/secretary told me he would be calling me. Followed up three times with him, no call back and it's been over a month now. Not very professional for a guy that probably charges $600 for a trust.

Just a heads up; the class 3 dealer I went through down in Vancouver had all the trust paperwork already done at no charge as long as I purchased my suppressor through them. It is Discount Gun Sales in Vancouver. I think they have a few stores up north as well.

I had to fill it out and have it notarized with my trustee, and done deal.

06/13- As an update: A felow Hide meber has contacted me regarding his dealing with this attorney. Apparently he has been strung along and it has taken much longer than he was told to get his trust. This was not my experience, but I figured it worth mentioning.

Still can't even find one that knows what it is ... geez
</div></div>

At least they are being honest, I heard this a lot too before I found mine. An "NFA attorney" is really just a property lawyer familiar with NFA (the all important detail!). Call many of these lawyers on here, they have contacts and all know each other. Goldman in FL is a good place to start, he knows a lot all over. He kind of got all this going if I recall.

You likely won't find it in the phone book.

You definitely don't want to fart around with this without it. The trust is just THE way to go, no matter what. Just easier and more peace of mind with it.

He sounds legit to me but I'm ignorant to the process. Oh ya, it's all for 250.00 bucks. I'm hoping someone answers back and says that they have used him and he did a great job. That price tag and his close proximity to home make him very appealing. </div></div>

He is the real deal and good to go!

Unless it is different from state to state, some of ya'll are getting butt raped on trusts.

Anyone in NC contact me or get up with Dave Branson of BB Shooting.

Re: List of NFA Trust attorney's by state?

I know it is a good idea to have a trust drafted by a professional and all, but I want to ask some information with all bias aside. Has anyone ever had any issues after "creating" their own trust? I ask this cause I have one that is simply just a gun trust that was drafted, it has no other financial responsibilities, there are other documents that take care of those needs.

To me reading the trust is a very self explanatory document. I know you cannot go wrong having an attorney do this for you but are some people making a bigger deal of it than it actually is? People create wills and other documents all the time using Internet guidance and I haven't heard any issues of malpractice punning intended lol.

Is the industry just out their scaring us into spending money we shouldn't? It's bad enough there is already a "tax" on these items. I should be able to exercise my right to own these items without an attorney doing paperwork for me ( I know the individual way to go doesn't require it so don't flame me please)

But honestly I am not here with a negative opinion about attorneys just begging the question are there actual issues that exisist or has the law made us paranoid?

Yes it is. I attempted to have him do mine. Filled out the form and made payment. 2 days later, heard nothing so I emailed him. Next day, nothing so I called him, no answer. 2 more days go by after I notice his site is down, and after another failed attempt to call, I contacted my card company and stopped payment.

Didn't know if he was out of business or not so I played it safe.

Amazingly fast turn around time. And stands behind the trust as long as he is practicing law. Also adds items for free to the trust until he decides to retire.

i see he is already listed here but just wanted to confirm he is still good to go!

he's not in it for the $ but more for promoting the shooting industry.

great guy to talk to. </div></div>I'll echo your statements!

Craig...one of the good guys!

Re: List of NFA Trust attorney's by state?

I found two from Ohio. One has responded but will be out of town for the next week or so......I know these things take time so in the interest of being a smart shopper, anyone else able to help an Ohio resident, or point me in the right direction? Besides telling me to move out of the state.......

Thanks

Doug
