I am looking for any informative reads on firearms. I find myself to be very compulsive and looking to know the absolute max about my interests. I have The Ultimate Sniper by John Plaster, excellent read and very informative. I have read it several times and is prob my #1 reference book for all things shooting. I have Art of the rifle by Jeff Cooper, excellent book. Understanding firearm ballistics, very scientific approach and another good read. Prob my next purchase will be The Art of War. I am a bit of a nerd, but I feel knowledge is the ultimate weapon and I really to know as much as possible about anything and everything.

Does anyone have any good books, references, manuals? Not stories. Good stuff on, rifles, pistols, optics, gear, war, ballistics, marksmanship, first aid, survilist. I am not trying to substitute reading a book for training. I just like to gain as much knowledge as possible.

So any good books anyone would recommend?

</div></div> It's not a second volume, it's a second edition that is basically the first with considerably more info. Very good info for the rookie to seasoned expert too.

For a lot of the manuals, pull up the military manuals. Most of them are available open source online in PDF format.

Re: Literature

If the 'Art of War' perks your interest, you may want to consider 'Boyd, the fighter pilot who changed the art of war'.
The book isn't firearms specific, however, its a good introduction to Boyd's OODA loop, the mindset behind modern warfare.

Re: Literature

On Combat, and Warrior Mindset. Both are excellent.

If you like the Ultimate sniper, check out The Complete 50 Caliber Sniper Course.

Also, What every Body is saying, about body language and reading people.

Lone Survivor, Marine Sniper, Dead center, all good.

I already have , what every body is saying, i would recommend the The definitive book of body language if you liked it. i have it also. I really do enjoy the psychology and behavior science.

I already have lone survivor, & marine sniper on audio book. If you liked them i strongly recommend that you get Shooter: the autobiography of the top-ranked marine sniper, by jack Coughlin. Excellent! On audio book I also have We Were One, (good),and Trigger Men (spotty, but worth it). I am currently listening to Roberts Ridge. I listen to them on my ipod sometimes while I am at work. But the my technical sided stuff i like hard books to keep, read, use for references, and make notes in them.

Re: Literature

Hatcher's NoteBook, MG J Hatcher
A Rifleman Goes to War, McBride
The Accurate Rifle, Warren Page
Military & Sporting Rifle Shooting, Cpt. Crossmen

Anything by PO Ackley, Whelan. Kieth, O'Conner, Carmichael, Sharp,

The list can go on forever, but thats a good start.

Don't Forget the CMP E-Store Bookstore, lots of good referances on shooting there.
