HAHAHAHAHA

I loved her unemployment rate discussion. “Unemployment is low because people are working two jobs...”. What a fucking dumbass. Do you know how unemployment statistics are tabulated? At any rate, she is perfect for her constituency.

Regardless of her beliefs and politics, I would like to spurt all over her face. I’d even have a towel ready for her

Moar of that please. Blanket the networks with it.

"When this country started we were not a capitalist society." - Maria Oscario Cortez

Actually true. In Nathaniel Philbrick's book Mayflower: A Story of Community, Courage, and War he details excerpts from William Bradford's journal about the Pilgrim's initial living/working arrangement. It was straight communism/socialism wherein each person was expected to work solely for the common good of the colony, and everything they did or built was common property. Socialism decimated them, and nearly killed the whole colony the first year. It was only after they abolished communal property and tasks that they started to succeed. It is incredibly clear and unambiguous in Bradford's writing. We started as a socialists, and abandoned it as a dead end political philosophy from first hand experience almost immediately.

Yes the Mayflower Compact was a communal arrangement necessary because a tightly homogeneous group was in a dire situation and they wanted to survive.

It is the rare occasion when Communism works because the idea of "self" or "the individual" is put aside in order to survive.

The second the threat disipates and there is one crumb of food surplus human nature is to desire to improve the condition of the "self" or "individual".

So basically Ocasio wants us to live in a Dystopian, struggle for life society so that she can be part of a functioning socialist society.

It is why the setting of every Communist/Socialist fictional society is exceedingly fucked up and everyone seemingly lives under the duress of immediate death.

Those are the only conditions under which that form of government works.

Add in diversity (in thought or culture, not skin) and you would end up with islands of culture probably in a state of tension if not war.

The Mayflower Compact itself was more like articles of incorporation. It didn't specify any political bent. It just gave providence to create a political system and sets of laws.

I agree that it can work, but only when you strictly control who is allowed into the body politic, and heavily indoctrinate the children into it. The Kibbutz's in Israel worked, but only because anyone not pulling their weight was kicked out. Communists don't like to talk about what "kicking someone out" of a nation state entails. It requires total ruthlessness on the part of the rulers, and there are always rulers even in a system that claims it needs no government. One of the many paradoxes that causes it's failures.

The attempt at communism/socialism was the well meaning attempt of the leadership to get everyone working together. It didn't work. If they instituted a dictatorship under duress that would have most likely worked much better, but they didn't. A ton of them starved and fell ill and if they hadn't jettisoned socialism after that first winter the colony would have died out. As soon as they abolished community property and everyone owned their own house and farm they started to thrive. Human nature doesn't take a vacation under duress, often it's exacerbated. Despite having so much in common the Pilgrims still thrived under economic liberty, and failed under socialism.

It didn’t work though, they were starving to death, it took John Smith to come along to allow people to keep what they made the starting capitalism. Until that happened they didn’t flourish.

The Northeast in the late 1800s had a strong desire for "Utopian" society - Shakers, Fruitlands, others thought they could all solve societies problems through planned communities that favored the collective over the individual.

I often drive by the decaying bones of their constructs.

Shakers compounded their condition by pushing celibacy. There craft work though sold out of the community was a great example of "capitalizing" on non community members.

Greed may be a sin but the greediest bastard is going to produce enough to provide for those that need even if perhaps not for altruistic reasons.

That is why the Gulag Archipelago was such an important book in helping to destroy communist support, (which everybody now forgets), it proved that a Communist or fully Socialist system could not exist without brutal places to eliminate people who didn't do the right thing "voluntarily" and that the fear of being sent to those, is the only thing able to keep the place from collapsing quickly.

I believe John Smith was Jamestown, but I learned history in a government school where we learned about the injuns teaching the settlers how to plant food, so...

There is a Stephen Hunter novel called Havana (About Earl Swagger accompanying a AR Senator to Cuba before the revolution) and in it there is a passage where one mobster goombah is explaining communism to the other mobster goombah.
(from memory)
Frankie: What's communism?
Lennie : It's the greatest scam ever devised. It isn't sealing from someone, or grifting someone into giving you their stuff. It's convincing all the people dat no one owns nuthin'. Dat way da boss owns everything and everyone.

There are a number of people I cannot bear to even listen to. Psychopath cuomo and this bitch are 2 of them. Did she really say that about unemployment? So in other words, if a person has 2 Jobs, it counts as double? Someone needs to knock the shit out of her.

And Nik, why are you being so considerate? Glue her eyes shut and let her walk around bouncing into walls looking for her own fucking towel

You're right, Smith ran Jamestown for a while and was known for the "He that will not work, shall not eat" philosophy, as many that came across were more aristocrat than farmer who didn't know which end of a plow went in the ground while famine and disease nearly killed the entire settlement.

It’s exactly what saved them. But that part gets skipped over in history class. Even college level.

I'm pretty sure it was discussed at length in my college history class, but it would be hard to ignore since where I took it was a 45 minute drive to the colony (highly recommend the visit to anyone who hasn't been), and the topic certainly isn't hidden there at the site. Even though my professor was a raving liberal who was absolutely fuming the day after Trump won, she got the facts right on Virginia's origins.

Smith can't take real credit for originating the philosophy, it's actually from a bible verse attributed to Paul, but he damn sure enforced it. Lenin later used it in the USSR, although that was more in the form of forced labor while taking away all private ownership of lands rather than a community working together for a common need.

No, I agree, I misworded it when I said he created the idea of capitalism. But it is what was introduced to the struggling settlements. I’ve been there in person four times, and the theme of capitalism is extremely underrated or hardly mentioned.... lol. Maybe I’m just too Altruistic about capitalism..... if that can even happen... lol

Communism and Socialism always fail because it defies the Primal Laws of Nature. Like a cave man who doesn't hunt or forage he does not survive. Now you can say they can steal but sooner or later someone would kill them. Socialism provides no incentive to work and can't stand.

Isn’t her argument that world hunger is down because more people are eating 2 sandwiches?

Speaking of sandwich, I’d love for her to have to make one. Wipe that shit ass smile right off her face

Politfact roasted her with a "Pants on Fire". http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...dria-ocasio-cortez-wrong-several-counts-abou/

The rest of the media ignores it, especially the interviewing dimwit stereotypical blond newscaster who looks good in a skirt and heels but lacks all substance and critical thinking. This was a typical softball interview to advance the left's cause, paid for with public PBS dollars of course. Any legitimate journalist would have immediately challenged her on those claims, it's obvious this one either didn't know what the real answer was, or wanted to perpetuate the lie. Either should be a terminable offense.
