Long story short, I'm back in school. My wife and son live on one side of the state and during the week I live on the other side while attending classes. I go home on the weekends and during breaks and holidays. Would this type of situation warrant a change of address? I consider my home of record where my wife and son are located and this is where all mail is sent to.

As long as your still maintaining residence at current location and your paperwork matches your DL address etc you should have no issues. I was LEO for years and can honestly tell you in MI where I’m from you’ll have no issues. Most LEO won’t know the exact laws in regards to NFA items to give you an issue anyways.

Show them your form and ID. Tell them you live at X (which is still your primary address) and just stay a few nights at Y to go to school. I see no issues pending you don’t have a LEO who doesn’t understand the law regarding suppressors and is amidst a shitty day. They exist but be Polite and have proper paperwork and you’ll be fine.

Disclaimer: This is based on my experience as a LEO and civilian who owns SBR/Suppressors in MI. If you live in a Libtard area than you may get issues whether your legit or not.

Wouldn’t be a bad idea to call the PD where your going to school and ask them. Get the name of the person who says it’s good to go as a reference should you have any issues. That’s what I would do if you have any doubt

Edit: Even if you were living in one state and schooling in another the same thing should apply. Pending the state the schools in is a suppressor friendly state

@hafejd30 Thank you for your thorough reply. This was pretty much what I was thinking, but wanted to get some outside opinions. All of my normal traveling is inside the state of AR. Its a pretty relaxed state when it comes to NFA as far as I know.

Your welcome

I recently did a form 1 SBR and got my prints done at my local PD (cause I’m to cheap apparently to buy an ink pad) and although they did prints all the time for NFA items they really had no clue about the laws surrounding such items.

We were never specifically trained on NFA items and everything I knew was from buying them and researching it on my own. So don’t be surprised if your having to explain the law to them. It’s just not something they train on or deal with very much.

That’s why I suggested calling the local PD by the school where your second location will be if you have any doubt and want to see what there take is on it.
