I must say I've been salivating over this thread for quite some time now, and i can't think of a better easier platform with the kind of options that are out there for it. Can't wait to pick one up!

Here are a couple pics. The day I put alot of rds downrange with mine I also got to shoot a factory Armalite SASS with a Gemtech can, another 21" Noveske based Armalite with a Gemtech Vortex adapter w/o a can and an 18" Noveske with the standard A2 flash suppressor on it. The PWS PRC brake I drastically reduced muzzle flip/recoil more than the A2 and even the Vortex adatper. To me it felt like shooting the rifle with the can on it. Just my opinion.

That looks nice. I actually wish the SS barrel I recieved from lmt has a similar finish. The black is nice but I like the look of a stainless barrel.

The E3 is the 5.56 KAC bolt.

My EMC does not have the E3 design, and I used to have a pic of an LMT 308 bcg and EMC bcg side by side. Look-wise, they were identical. I am not sure if they are differences in material; it certainly didnt look like it.

What would the purpose of the 13.5" barrel be on the MWS platform? I can see where it would be really handy for the British special forces but what about us civilians?

Would it be geared more for someone to run subsonic rounds with a suppressor?

You likely won't find one as they aren't sold separately from the lowers.

Well, this is all too mouth watering. What online dealer would any of you guys recommend that is best on price and a good ole' hide supporter?

There are two LMT dealers around here and I will never give my money to one and the other not only wants way way to much for everything, but they are the dominate dealer of most everything that you can't buy at Walmart or Bass Pro, so they treat you like just another dumb sheep in the heard.

I would go to the store and look and see if the shop has one. and I would offer them $2400 or 2450 for it. There is margin for the dealer and you dont have to pay shipping and transfer fees. The big plus you get to inspect the gun in person.

If that does not work I would talk to whomever you have FFL transfers through. It is my understanding that there is no middleman between LMT and dealers and they are easy for dealers to purchase from.

Well I ordered the barrel as soon as LMT would take orders and I received it today.

LMT stainless 18" 308.

It will get a Surefire/BE Meyers flash hider/suppressor adaptor installed.

Just look at that massive barrel extension on that beautiful Rock SS 18"....that is why these things are gonna see bolt action type precision. Congrats on such a awesome pickup and I look forward to seeing some feedback on it if you have the time.

Nuts, I just sold my last MWS (aside from the demo). LMT's lead time is 8-10 weeks right now.

Well I probably did something really dumb and against the advice of folks who know better lol. Went ahead and chopped the MWS back to 13" and installed (pin/weld) a KFX on to bring the barrel length to 16".

Been swampped at work and have not had the chance to shoot it but I'm crossing my fingers that the KFX will offset any potential reliability issues caused by the short barrel length. If not it gives me an excuse to have Dennis (DBMG) spin up a 260 barrel ahead of time

as well as maybe play with some different gas port sizes and gas block designs.

Also if anyone cares "Citri-Strip" sucks BIG TIME! Oh it removed the krylon no problem but it also left a nasty pinkish residue that was impossible to remove. Ended up throwing it in the blast cabinet and duracoating it.

OAL collapsed 34" weight with sling, EOtech, and 20rnd P-mag (175smk's) ended up at 13lbs. Think next step will be dimpling the barrel when I get the time.

For the stainless is it a Mike Rock 5R?

Who makes the chrome lined barrels for them?

BTW I held it up to the 16" barrel and the gas block extends past the front of the handguard unlike the 16" CM which sets up under the handguard. The chamber end of the gas block looks like it will be even with the front of the handguard.

It looks like it will look rather nice IMHO.

MBUS are fine for what they are...a last ditch back up. Probably gonna ditch the EOtech as soon as I figure out what to replace it with but originaly the MBUS were a back up to the scope I had mounted.

I generally dont like the idea of 200.00 folding buis unless its KAC 600m as it affords elevation adjustment.

If I decide to keep the EOtech I'll probably go with a non-folding buis and set it up for cowitness.

Look at the GG&G rear flip ups the MAD version they have one with a large and small aperture, and one with an aperture set for 100m - 600m. using those rear a PRI flip up front with a covered post and the eotech cowitness. The circles all line up and its very fast to target.

After talking with LMT at the Shot Show, Rock is the intended supplier. The new barrel offerings on display at Shot were Wilson barrels. Some minor detail to be worked out with the Rock barrels...

When I told them about the scratched up barrel, they said to shoot it. Luckily, it shoots great.

I didnt tell them about the pistol grip situation because that was an easy fix. Sure, it REALLY should not have been that way but as long as I was able to put that MIAD on, I was fine.

I wonder if anyone else has an off-set pistol grip screw hole on theirs

I have no idea...been working my ass off the last few weeks and have not had the chance to try it out yet.

Picked up some cheap(er) blasting ammo to evaluate cycle reliability which is my primary concern. I plan to burn through 200 rnds of DAG as fast as I can and see if anny issues occure

Honestly not going to be surprised if this turns out to be a turd but I hope I'll be wrong.

I would like to get a good hammer forged pencil barrel like the SCAR converted by DBMG to put on it. Thats the biggest reason the SCAR is lightweight. I just cant find one. I thought about the Armalite pencil barrel but I didnt check to see if you can buy one aftermarket. If you could drop a pound off the barrel I bet it would be on par with the LWRC for handeling.

It shoots too good to screw with. I really got the rifle to be a precision semi auto rig anyway. I can wait for someone to come out with one, Im sure LMT will soon. If I had to carry the gun all day at work it would be a high priority though.

Extentions not available, DBMG can modify any AR10 (Armalight or DPMS) barrel to fit the MWS.

Dennis at DBMG advised against reprofiling the CL barrel. Crap shoot on how the accuracy will be influenced from the reprofile some shoot the same as before others not so much.

Here are two options for barrels to be converted. Bear in mind a certain amount of weight will be added to the barrel extention durring the conversion.

Armalight lightweight barrel, 2-2.5 MOA at 2lbs 2oz http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=2421

IMO a better option would be the RA 16" ultramatch http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=2338 they went with the best profile to retain accuracy and shed weight.

Moving right along...I removed the KX3 and installed a BABC, lucky for me Dennis left .5 on the barrel when the KX3 was intalled so with the BABC its still 16" pin and welded on.

Today I dimpled the barrel and durracoated it. The numbers came out to be 3.05 lbs for the 13.5" barre with gas block no tube or muzzle device. After dimpling 2.94 lbs...not the dramatic results I was expecting but it looks good lol. We calculated the area to compare flutes vs dimples and dimples removed more surface area at a depth of .09"

Weight of rifle with BABC 13.5" dimpled barrel, CTR stock, Ergo tactical delux grip was 9.18lbs. Need to check this on a postal scale as these weights were taken with a digital fish scale lol.

Here is the real funny one, weight of rifle with 13.5" barrel, BABC, Ergo,CTR, Magpul VFG,8 magpul two piece rail panels, Harris BRS 6-9 w/podlock and stoney creek pic rail adapter, GG&G QD scout length rail, Loopy MK4 3.5-10, MK4 rings, TVNC-3 ring rail adapter, T-1 sight and gear sector sling...12.7 lbs
