Load data for the 223 caliber ?? BOLT ACTION

I have a question about loading for my 223 wylde with a 7 twist....I notice in the newest Hornady there are
3 different loading data for the 223..Standard,Service rifle and 556...Confused as to which section I should
refer to for my own rifle..I understand that the wylde is supposed to be for the 223 or 556...So which one do
you guys or ladies think I ought to be using to get the most accurate loads possible ?? Thanks
 
223 Wylde shod be good to go with either .223 or 5.56 (higher pressure) loads. As for loads that seem to be accurate across platforms I have loved 75 gr Hornady BTHP over 24.0 gr Varget with CCI 450 Primers. Seems to shoot well with every rifle I have.
 
Running CFE223 in one of mine. Meters like water and works well for me (24" barreled Tikka Varmint). BLC-2 is another option as well...
 
Look up Hodgdon's load data on their website. I have found it to be much better data than Hornady's. If I were you I would try the 80 ELD-M before any other bullets. My first choice in powder would be IMR 8208XBR. I have 3 .223 bolt actions and have loaded and shot well over 10,000 rounds through them. I always end up going for the 75 or 80 grain Hornady ELD-M/Amax. They perform well on targets and much better on varmints than any HPBT style bullets.

What is your base to ogive measurement?
 
If you're running .55gr BT's or VMAX's, then 27.0 grs of CFE was money. For the heavy 75gr bullets, I couldn't get CFE to group for shit. Ended up with XBR-8208 for those, at 24.5gr's and a BR-4 primer in NAMMO (Lapua) brass.

Good to know, I was planning on loading 77gr. I already have a bunch of 55gr that I loaded for my AR. I'll take a few and see how they do in this.

8208 - 22.5gr 2800fps

Any reason why you're running Remington 6 1/2 primers?
 
I have found the best loads in my .223Wylde to be just a little ways into the 5.56 load data, like around 1.5 grains over the same bullet in a .223 load that was not at max. I only use LC, Nammo or Lapua brass with CCI41 primers for the 5.56 loads.
 
I asked because the 6 1/2 wasn't designed for higher pressure rifle rounds like the 223. It was designed for lower pressure rounds like the 22 Hornet, 30 Carbine etc. The 7 1/2 was designed for the higher pressure rounds.
 
I've tested this load in three different .223 Wylde chambered rifles and one 5.56 NATO chambered rifle. All are 1 in 8" twist barrels, 23" on the 5.56 and 26" on all the others.

WSR or CCI#400 primer
24.2-24.6gr Varget
73gr Hornady ELD-M's
1.932" length measured to ogive

Dependent on the rifle this load should come in around 2880-2920fps on average. Accuracy was excellent in all rifles with an average group right around 0.5 MOA or less. No pressure signs and load has a slight crunch but not compressed. The 73gr ELD-M's @2900fps actually do a pretty good job of keeping pace with the 77gr STMK @2875fps (Black Hill 5.56)according to JBM and actually outperform the 77gr SMK's.

I just got some TAC powder to test and will see if we can push it closer to 3000 fps while maintaining accuracy.
