Load matching Acog Reticle

Re: Load matching Acog Reticle

Seems to be the problem with BDC knobs and reticles, they are bullet and barrel length (velocity) specific and rarely match up with what ammo or rifle you're shooting.
Just a suggestion: Pick a bullet. Use a ballistics program to play with velocities for that bullet until you get a trajectory that matches your reticle at whatever distances you anticipate shooting. Work the load up to that velocity...IF you can safely do so.
That should get you as close a POA/POI as you can get with a BDC reticle.

Re: Load matching Acog Reticle

Pick a bullet for the application, wood it up and subtend in accordance to it's performance...as opposed to slumming existing concessions.

What does the manual say?

It's calibrated for the M-855 round out to a 1000m (ha! good joke), so what...~3100 fps out of a 20" M-16 or ~2950 fps out of a 14.5" M-4?

Just go buy some green tip SS-109 NATO shit and keep that handy for the zombie invasion.
