Our Club just canceled it's monthly Defensive Carbine match this month due to a general lack of replacement ammo and members' unwillingness to burn up what they have until availability eases somewhat.

Just another wave affect from the current situation.

Unfortunate, to say the least.

GunBroker has countless 550round bricks of .22 actually selling for ~$130. That's about $115 more than I bought them for a few months ago. Crazy!
We do these matches with .223 being the smallest caliber. So 9mm and other pistol cartridges are good, .223, 7.62 x whatever, etc. Just has to be a carbine or rifle, preferably with an auto-loading action. They are a real blast (both figuratively and literally), following roughly an IDPA format without all the tweaky annoying details.

I thought that would be the case, but it doesn't seem to be the case around here. There was a multigun match a couple weeks ago with more people than usual and the IDPA match had a record # of shooters as well with a lot of new shooters. The USPSA match was pretty well attended as well. I don't personally know of any of the regulars I shoot with that has any sort of ammo shortage problem. We'd all like to have more, but no way I'm sitting at home on match day. The serious shooters are gonna shoot.

Mscott, I agree with you. I was headed to a steel match last Saturday when my wife called and her car had stalled a mile from the house. So I spent Saturday fixing the car instead. However, I'll either shoot the ICORE match Sunday or more likely take the .308 and new 8" gong to the rifle range. Plus, I have a .223 I put together for my wife that needs to be sighted in and tested. I've been busy for quite a while with pressing family matters and am really jonesing to get out and enjoy myself.

I've been shooting some local Mid-Range F-Class matches with the same rifle I shoot in tactical precision competitions. They are held on Saturday and Sunday. Up until last month I used to always shoot both days but last month and this weekend I only shot one day just to conserve reloading components. I have plenty of powder and primers but I'm starting to hurt on bullets and my match brass is getting a little long in the tooth. Yesterday morning I talked to several other shooters who are in the same position. I'm really looking forward to the end of this insanity.

Our local USPSA match had to reduce round count for the same reason. They were concerned that some competitors wouldn't be able get ammo. Somehow I don't think that a 30 round reduction would make a difference, but I'm just glad they're still legal in my state (sorry NY).

"No Bayonets?" - LMAO!
