Trust me, the Sikhs are not the problem! Nor are the rest of the Western Oriental Gentlemen ;-). They run the businesses and the economy and make the best curry.
The Islamists are the infestation. Not good Empire imports!
cheers, sirhr
I don't believe in the imposition of one religion, or one religion's laws, upon the unwilling who have differing beliefs.
It works both ways. Neither the majority, nor the minority, have the right to tell me what to do, or how to do it. That's what civil law is for, civil law that is reasonable, natural, universally applied and applicable, and uncolored by unjust acquiescence to the dictates of a single faith.
Unfortunately, the mass of the mostly moderate who happily dwell within the house of the one Creator are overshadowed by the aggressive, who consider putting non-believers to the sword to be the ultimate act of faith. And those who aren't actively involved in this shameless struggle aid it with passivity, on all sides.
I've felt the abject fear and unbridled hatred from those whose viewpoints, generated through prejudice, see me as a possible combatant in this undeclared war of opposing faiths. I used to be white, generically so, not even a return on the radar. For the last 13 years I've lived with the sense that my presence, where once I walked comfortably and without undue notice, was often resented and unwelcome.
I know who I am. I know what is in my heart, and I know where my family comes from, no matter what the assumptions of others. Nonetheless, I deal with this filter that always affects my interaction with others, and it can become a burden. I know the looks, the patronizing sneers, the outright staring and glares, and the all too frequent Taliban and ISIS bullshit remarks.
For some, it becomes too much, and they turn inward towards a more sinister interpretation of their beliefs. I am not that weak, nor does Sikhism promote organized vengeance upon those who would persecute us. But I understand the genesis of murderous hatred, even if I refuse to accept retaliatory acts. And it does become difficult to deal with some people in certain situations, especially when the past performance of others comes to dictate expectations of continued stupidity.
Think about it every time you, and I mean those of you who might, lash out and think "raghead" or "towelhead." You say that some revel in victimhood. Try putting down the stones.
