Long Gun Storage

Maybe a stupid question, but here goes.
I bought a small safe from Bass Pro to catch the long gun overflow from my big safe. It's only a small one since I live in a condo and space in the spare room that doubles as an office, reloading, and computer room. It's advertised to hold 10 long guns, and it might if they are not all scoped, but the most I'm able to get in this one is six firearms. I think that if I could flip every other one upside down and let it sit on the muzzle, that would give me the added room I need. Would that be damaging to a barrel? I've never stored guns anyway but muzzle up.

Don't ding the crown and you'll be fine.

Remember that the safes only hold 1/3-1/2 of what is advertised. I turned a room into a safe because it was cheaper than buying 3-4 good safes.

I suspected it would be OK, but it's better to ask. The safe floor has carpet on it and the guns will be leaning at an angle, so no potential damage to the crown. I think the widths of the scopes are what's crowning me on space.

I've alternated rifles like that for years to save space, and never have had any issues. Some people recommend storing muzzle down anyway.

You wouldn't hurt the crown if the floor was iron. The crown is recessed for a reason.

Put all the guns in gun socks, and remove the bolts. This allows rifles to be stored MUCH more tightly without damaging finishes, etc... Store the bolts on a shelf in Ziploc bags labeled as to which gun they go to.

Rifle rods will increase your storage space by allowing you to store the vertically instead of an angle.
