We have updated our schedule to include Saturday March 22: External Ballistics lecture. Back by popular demand, we are holding this in Henrietta, New York. Also, July 26 we are offering a one day (8:00 am til dusk) Scoped Hunting Rifle course. Please visit our web site for a full list of course descriptions, costs and calendar dates.

Registrations are filling up, March class is full and April is half full. For the June PR 101 Fundraiser, we plan on bringing in additional RO's and instructors enabling larger class size if required. Coming out of winter, we are looking forward to another great training year, Long Gun Training has a new venue/range to add for our locations this year. New 1200 yard flat range, making a total of 3 locations in Western/Finger Lakes region of New York. Check out our web page for further details.

Is there a cap on the June PR1 fundraiser class size?

For the June Fundraiser we will bring in more RO's and instructors if we get higher registration numbers. 100% of Long Gun Training profits from this class will go to Injured Soldiers, come and join us. There is on site housing available, a Timber frame full kitchen and bath with 3 bedrooms cost is $50 per night all this money also will get donated. Free camping is also offered. When Long Gun Training runs classes at this venue we always do common meals and fire a grill in the evening this one will be no different once we get final numbers I will plan meals...Venison is usually on the menu along with what ever others what.

We just updated the calendar through August 2014 today, adding several classes. I will post here when we figure out the fall schedule.

Long Gun Training held a PR 103 course June 7-8, students were able to confirm and build on their rifle data and skills from previous courses. On day one they engaged targets from a 100 yard board checking rifle zeros, then practice on steel targets out to 1000 yards collecting data. The second day was a full introduction to unknown distance targets using only their scopes reticle, calculating target ranges learning the math and how to use their optics properly. This particular range is a great location for UKD shooting as there are no landmarks to use for indexing distance from. Students must estimate open ground by eye and calculate target sizes. We also placed several steel targets inside the tree line with partial exposure. This range also produces a lot of mirage, another learning tool for students to understand.

Long Gun Training currently has 3 private range locations in western New York and will soon have a fourth allowing angle fire. We have developed a precision rifle curriculum for shooters to attend that starts with PR 101 fundamentals, then courses build on each other in a manor that exposes students to a sequential skills matrix without an overload of training or information at any one time. We always return to the fundamentals as they are key, some drills in intermediate and advanced courses purposely cause limited stress for students to see if they remain true to the law of fundamentals.

This past weekend, Long Gun Training hosted a fundraiser for Operation Injured Soldiers. Our June 21-22 PR 101 course donated 100% of our profits to this great organization. Check them out at Operation Injured Soliders | Taking Care of Our Own. Taking care of our warriors hits close to home here at Long Gun Training. We are proud and humbled to be able to offer our support. OIS takes injured veterans on hunting and fishing trips. Our donation, raised at our training weekend, will fund a Duck Hunt for a group this upcoming season. Another note Long Gun Training has added a forth private range/venue in Western New York state for our training.
