Re: long range targets

Bore sight it. Get it on paper at 100 adjust until it's hitting where you aim.

Re: long range targets

I usually do what tacshooter223 mentioned. If you wanna play it safe start at say 50 yards, bore sight it by taking the bolt out and looking down the barrel. Then while holding the rifle in place look down the scope and move the reticle so that its lined up with the target.

Once you have that done shoot groups and get everything dialed in. Once your ready to move back to 100 you should be close, more than likly you'll be shooting high at 100 yards. Just move the elevation knob down until your POA and POI are lined up!

Re: long range targets

cool, sorry for not searching first, thanks for the tips worked great, im making 5 inch groups @ 300 yds now, and i just purchased a way more rigid stock so i know that should help too.

Re: long range targets

You should consider lower rings also. You are going to need a way tall cheek rest the way they are. It may not seem like a big deal, but when you get it to fit right, you will know what I mean.

This. And This.

Tac Ops or Triad Stock pack and foam might help.

Re: long range targets

Exactly what Huckelberry said. I did not pay real close attention to these aspects until I shot a proper fitting rifle and scope. It is worth spenging the time and money to really fit that rifle to you. Is amazing how much that alone helps consistency and accuracy.

As to the original question. What I do with centerfire is set up a 25, 50 and 100 yard target. Shoot the 25, get close, shoot teh 50, get close, shoot the 100 for accuracy and establish THIS as my zero with THIS ammo. From here I us JBM Ballstics and build my test DOPE, hit the real world and test DOPE and make adjustments. I find that JBM is pretty dang close, close enough that I only need to make minor adjustments.

This is a little more than you asked for, just trying to head your next question off at the pass!
