Just something I got to thinking about the other day..

We all know the classic stats for longest conf. kill for scoped rifles in different calibers, but I was curious if anyone ever saw an account or report, etc. of the longest confirmed kill with iron sights, in any caliber. I'd be talking about something in the past 30-40 years, not mass volley shots in WWI at 1500y

Also, not steel plinking or hunting- actual combat.

Anyone?

The White Death sniper that shot Russians only used irons and I think some of his kills were a out there.

Offtopic: For me it would be a crow at 191 yards w/ a .22LR Glock17.

Billy Dixon,1874, battle of Adobe Walls, Texas. Rifle, .50 X 2 1/2" Sharps. Likely a paper patched 700 gr. conical bullet pushed by a full charge of black powder. Range. 1538 yds. confirmed by survey after the fact.
Billy was a buffalo hunter and serious long distance marksman. A lesser known fact he was awarded the MOH for his actions during a later battle.
