Trapping. Mostly conibear and coil spring. Nice creatures just cause to much havoc In the farmers fields.
Once upon a time I European mounted a beaver skull for my brother in law.... never again.
The 51lb got fully body mounted. Waiting on it to be completed lololol.
This is my 55lb. Notice the missing front leg. It was completely smooth- nonexistent, taxidermist took it upon himself to make it poke out. He said it was a birth defect, leg was just curled up under the skin. He backed up a lot of water and took down a hell of a lot of trees with only 3 legs.
Ive trapped several beaver that have had 1 front paw missing. I typically get called in behind inexperienced trappers to get that last smart beaver out of a pond. Id rather trap a smart coyote than a smart beaver. Ive even caught beaver that didnt have any front feet. But they still move mud just the same.

To friends and family tanned yes. Other than that I keep all my beaver hides. Gonna make a bed spread. Not worth selling on animal at 5-7$.
That's the same thing I do, I've got a bunch of coyote pelts I'm going to send to USA foxx and have a blanket made, then try to get enough otters to the same. Last time I went to sell some hides they offered $2 for xl coons and $12 for xl beaver. No thanks I'll keep them. Luckily I don't have to do it for a living.
