I'm hoping someone out there with quickload could help me get close to a good barrel node. Here's what I have:
150gr Speer hot-cor hCSP .311d (2217)
PPU once fired brass measuring 65gr of water
Reloader 15 or IMR 4064
Cci large rifle primers
Barrel is 24" with the muzzle brake and free floating.
I put in everything I can think of let me know if there is anything else. Thanks for any help.

My development rifle is a '43 Izhevsk 91/30.

PPU brass, CCI 200 Large Rifle Primer.

49.0gr IMR-4064, .311 HDY 150gr SP Interlock set to OAL identical with PPU 150gr SP factory load.

This is an arbitrary load for a different stock (Archangel, floated option) and barrel length (original 91/30 length) than yours. Needs more confirmation, but seems good at 100yd. 3rd at 200yd looks iffy, but 3rd is also a mighty small sample size, too.

Will also try 48.0gr soon.

I don't have Q/L, and develop my loads using the traditional method.

I don't have my data with me. But I know i used Lee data to work up a load that settled into the med load range with a 150gr bullet. I have played with 3031 and 4064.

Eta good info here. 7.62x54.net

I have been shooting MNs for 12 years. I have converted them to 45/70, 30-30, 7mmRemMag, 300WM, and soon 257 Krag Ackley.
In 7.62x54R original military barrels, I start out with 180 gr .311" pro hunter Sierra bullets and work up until the bolt is hard to lift. Then I back off two grains. That is the load.

Here is a video I made in Oct 2013 of a friend shooting an antelope buck with an MN. He has been hunting with them for 40 years, since they cost $7 at the hardware store.

I've never shot the PPU brass, however; I've loaded a lot of these rounds with RE-15, 48.0 grains. OAL 2.950, this is not the hottest load, but it shoots very well, as does 53.5gr of 4350. Good luck!

Thank you for. Your help. I haven't gotten better than 2.5" groups at 100yrds with factory loads. Till today I took some ppu and pulled the bullets closer to the lands and groups started tightening up. Need to do some more work but it looks promising.

223 Mosin Nagant 100 yards 35 agr Vmax 15 gr Blue Dot 2-26-2014.jpg

I have a dozen Mosin Nagants, the best accuracy / precision is the one I converted to .223.
I think most every cartridge has the same accuracy potential, but what really helps is a heavy rifle and a light bullets.

Mosin Nagant with Rem700 .222 barrel reamed out to .223 and manual magazine follower/ lifter.
13x40x40 Leupold vari x III left on 13X by mistake

33-35 gr Vmax moly 15 gr Blue Dot 2.17" OAL

Ok I've worked up a load that cut my groups in half. Here's what I came up with. 47.9 grains of reloader 15' in privi brass, a cci primer, and a Speer 155 grain spitzer. Group size is 5 rounds 100 yards in 1.95". If I discount 1 round I think I pulled it's .804". Under 1 moa I'm really happy with that.
