I am looking for suggestions on scopes to put on a Tikka T3x CTR in 308W. It will mainly be used for hunting hog, deer and moose between 20-200 yards but I also want to be able to use it for target shooting, eventually up to 800-1000 yards.

I am planning on eventually getting a clip-on nightvision or thermal when my bank account allows for it but I think that at least for the coming 6 months I will be hunting only using this scope, so it should be good in low-light situations (as well as compatible with clip-ons :)).

Budget is preferably around $1000 but if I get twice the scope for around $2000 I am willing to go that high but not much more.

Thanks in advance!

I'd say this is easily twice the scope and over $1,100 off :)
Minox ZP5 TAC 3-15x50 w/ MR2 Reticle on sale $2,099.00

I should have mentioned it before but I live in Sweden. Not all US-based shops ship there and even if they do there is a hefty tax penalty for importing, I think it's like 25% VAT + duty. I basically live in a communist state..
But shops within EU are ok. :)

The Bushnell LRHS on mine works well.

Illuminated with the “circle of death” like an Eotech may be nice for those 20 yd hog shots in low light.

Think the G3 reticle @gr8tfuldoug is selling above has it.

Have several of these and am pleased.

For you in Sweden, not sure what all is available

So these are the prices in my country:
Athlon Ares BTR HD 2.5-15X50: 1372 USD
Bushnell Elite LRHS 3-12X44: 1425 USD
Bushnell Elite Tactical LRTS 3-12x44: 1467 USD

The Minox and Steiner are not on sale in my country, meaning they are waaay over my budget. ;)

I do like the reticles of both the Ares and LRHS. Seems like they would be easier to use during quick movements compared to something like a Vortex Viper PST Gen2, which can be had for 1012 USD.
Do you think 44 vs 50mm objective size matters much during low-light situations?

Right now I'm leaning towards the Athlon Ares BTR. I like the reticle plus the 50mm lens will likely let in more light?

How much is a delta Stryker hd 4.5-30 x 56. My pick if from Europe
Around 1700 USD depending on reticle. Looks like a nice scope however I do feel I'd rather have around 3x as minimum magnification though..

Is lockable turrets something that one should have for hunting?

I agree with 3x for a minimum magnification, you can get away with higher if the scope has wide FOV but I do still prefer lower. 3-18 is a pretty versatile magnification range.

Locking turrets are nice to have but not necessary.
50mm objective will let in more light, but most quality glass will be fine with 44mm.

The Vortex PST is a good scope for the price. The Leupold VX5hd /VX6hd is a great option if you don't mind SFP and MOA.

I have a brand new bushnell XRS and lrts both with G3 reticle. If it’s gonna be to pricey no problem just figured I would throw some options to help!
I can't figure out how to PM on this site.. But if the price is right, i.e. low enough that even with the retarded VAT+duty on around 30% of the total price (including shipping) it's still cheaper than in my country, and you are willing to go through the paperwork that I have understood is required for exporting optics, then sure I'd be interested. :)

Pretty sure you can get a Leupold VX-3i in the EU. Awesome optic, lightweight and great lowlight performance. Ideal for hunting.

Given the prices you have in Sweden, I would consider either Vortex PST Gen 2 3-15x44 or Bushnell LRHS 3-12x44.

While a 50mm objective does let in more light, both of these are better optically than the Ares BTR, which makes up for that. They are also better optimized on low power which is what you will need for hunting.

LRHS reticle will work best on 3x, but PST Gen 2 is a better scope for long range practice. Make sure you get an illuminated version.
