Hello,

To start I am 6'6 300lbs. I work a non routine schedule. I could work 3 day shifts then go to nights for 4 days. So my schedule is rough. I am not exactly happy with my weight but know I carry it rather well. I am looking for advice on how I can lose the fat fast. I would like to lose 40 lbs just from changing my "lifestyle". I would rather not have to pop a bunch of pills that say they burn fat fast. If there is one supplement out there that someone thinks would help me achieve my goal I am open to suggestions. I do exercise when I have time to get in and do it. Is there some things that I can do @ home that can help tone my core up? Thanks

Cut out all carbs. I lost 150lbs doing it and they have stayed off. You can eat until you're full, and don't need to worry about counting calories.

Don't kid yourself, either. It is hard as all hell to start. Carbs are addicting in every sense of the word, but once you get past the first 2 weeks, you'll just start seeing the weight falling off of you...obviously, this is not a "diet." This is an entire change in your lifestyle.

As a physician of 40 years, cutting carbs is the only way to go, but beware of fruit, since natural sugar is as bad as the refined stuff. Eat many proteins in small portions 4-5X a day. Any exercise should be aerobic-brisk walking, biking or swimming. Running after age 35 can cause future damage to your knees and ankles. Drinking water is critical to avoid gout and kidney stones! After the first days you develop ketosis, which blunts appetite.

Avoid advertised supplements and especially drugs, since they may cause many serious consequences. I have 1 gentleman who has lost over 300 lbs since Jan 2010. If there was an easy, effective pill or supplement that worked, obesity would not be so rampant not only in the US, but around the World.

The Atkins diet is by far the best reference diet, I have found for people to follow. Safe and very effective. Men seem to favor it more than women. Women seem to do better with Weight Watchers.

AND REMEMBER, ALL ALCOHOL IS METABOLIZED AS A CARB!

Good luck. You can do it! Average wait loss usually 10 or more pounds a month, depending on your conviction.

^^^ What the good doc said! Except I need to add one thing to it...fiber!!

As wonderful as it is shoveling meat down the gullet, you'll need something to move it along...with that, the water is a second important piece to the puzzle. On average, I drink 4-6 liters a day, but I also sweat a lot because of those damn bullet resistant vests ;)

Also, I have been eating this way for 5 years, and my LDL cholesterol is in the gutter...my blood pressure is outstanding, and I generally just feel better, which is real funny when my co-workers see me eating like a horse. Really, I think I eat more than some horses do. My wife hates me due to our grocery bill.

On that note, we buy all of our meats from local farmers who feed their animals this whacky shit called grass...it's crazy. They don't eat corn meal mixed with a side helping of their own shit and piss. It's quite the novel idea, but also fucking scary when you see how different the various meats taste compared to store-bought garbage.

Lastly, we have been hypnotized into thinking cholesterol is a bad thing, when in fact, it is a good thing when combined with the proper nutritional intake, i.e. not eating carbs, processed sugars and starches, etc...that is the shit causing all this poor health in the world, particularly, our country. The refined sugars oxidize the cholesterol, which makes it a negative molecule in our bodies.

"Hey guys, cholesterol is bad, so instead of that butter product that was close to a natural product, we synthesized this shit in a lab and called it 'I Can't Believe It's Not Butter!'" You may believe it's not butter, indeed, but would you believe what it truly is?

I can go on and on about how fucked our food supply is, but I don't like typing that much!

Best of luck.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I appreciate the input. Sound like i have a great place to start and continue from there. I know what ya mean by sweating alot. Them damn vest are a bitch! ;) Anyways thanks again.

Stay safe

Sounds like others have the diet part covered. Lean proteins, veggies, fruit (I only eat fruit in the AM). Don't forget to eat some good fats, almonds, walnuts, macadamia nuts, avacados... portion control! What you eat that your body doesn't need is stored as fat.
To strengthen your core; planks, side bridges, crunches, leg lifts, v-ups, bicycles... do a youtube search for planks. There are many variations to keep it challenging!

I would say forget about the supplements and change your eating habits. What ever plan you choose to follow research it and stick to it.
For me it was weight watches. Jan 2013 I weighed 278, Jan 2014 I weighed in at 198. I am just trying to maintain now and so far it is working.
