I am currently working on building up my gear for a local club match in August. I currently only have a 6.5 creedmoor with optic, a Kestrel and a few home made bags that seem to be under filled. Wondering what I should look at getting to make my first experience the best I can while still staying in a budget as I am currently going through the process of buying a house.

A good pack to carry all your shooting stuff around.

Leave those bags under filled.

A folding chair to sit on when it's not your turn to shoot, and a cooler of beer for after the match.

2" masking/painters tape, white or tan and fine tipped sharpies to write data and stage notes on and stick to everything. If you wanna get fancy you can get different color pens.

compression sleeves from a sporting goods store so when you go prone on something pointy or on a hot car you don't mess up your elbows.

A decent rear bag and any bipod is all you need, esp at a club match. As mentioned, don't speculate and buy then resell at a loss cause it wasn't ur cup of tea.

Point I want to make was there will be guys there with everything under the sun gear wise, walk around, watch them shoot and ask to borrow their gear. Ive never met someone to say no. And you can decide what you like from actual use.

Good luck!!
and welcome to the sport.

what DT said above.

and do what i need to do, and practice getting steady from a variety of positions. can do this in your house or back yard. tables, on top of deck rails and thru balusters, trash cans upright and on sides, fence posts, etc.

The best money I have ever spent was on this online training course. This guy uses very little gear and is very successful. Really helped me learn how to practice as well.

Online Precision Rifle Training from Top Shooter, Jake Vibbert

Just search and you will find it.

Best,
Wooly
