Looking for AR-10 .260 Rem build experience with JP barrel

I'm planning two AR-10 builds. One will be a .260 Rem and the other will be a .308.

I have two Sun Devil matched uppers and lowers that I plan to use for the build.

I also plan to use a PRS stock, Geissele DMR trigger, and JP rail.

For the .260 I'd like to be able to shoot the same bullet I'm using in my bolt action which is the 142 SMK's.

I'm leaning towards the JP 22" for the .260 and the 20" for the .308.

I'm curious if anyone has used the JP .260 barrel and if so what were your accuracy results? Also curious how it performed after the barrel heats up. Has anyone used the 142 SMK's with this barrel and if so what was your velocity?

I have an JP LRP-07 in 6.5 Creedmoor with a 22" barrel and the accuracy is outstanding.

It loves the 140 Amaxes.

*Note. I had to get a small base sizing die as the chamber is tight.

I tried a variety at ranges from 300 to 1175 in extremely gusty winds last Saturday and by far the 140 Amaxes shot the best.

Here are my two best loads:

140 Amax
41.5 grains of H4350
210 match primers
2707 fps

123 Scenar
43.7 grains of H4350
210 match primers
2902 fps

*start low and load up.

I have the JP-260 and it shoots the 139gr Scenar very well.
41.8 gr of H4350 gives me 2722 FPS from my 22” barrel.
The JP rifles come with their JP heat dissipator and I haven’t noticed any heat induced POI changes.

At the point of over-heating, because of heat-caused throat deterioration, in an AR built right, to the level of accuracy loss; accuracy is likely not recoverable. The bore will likely be irreparably damaged.

Do not expect poi shifts in reasonably spaced shot strings under normal conditions.

I own a 260 JP with a 22" barrel and shoot Lapua 139s using 46.0gns of 4830. The rifle is shooting .65 MOA on average and I could probably lower it further if I worked more on consistent loads.

dude, you're going to love that 260!! I would sooooo like to get one if I wasn't such a cheap ass when it comes to reload component $$$$. I think that would be my dream cartridge in a semi-auto if money wasn't an issue to me. Who knows. It might still happen with a new LMT barrel if prices and components ever come back around maybe in a year or so...... So far I've just been making due to with 5.56 and some .308 here and there. I'm loaded to the brim in 5.56 bullets right now.

I'm jel with your new build! it is going to be a f@cking laser!

I also have a JP LRP-07 in 260....love it. note the 200 yard group

last two rounds of 10 were "walked" up...
Lapua 139s w 46.2 gns of 4831sc @2.818
