Looking for beginner matches in or near Maryland?

Look up the Mason Dixon Precision Rifle Series. It’s a PRS club series and offers matches in Maryland and Pennsylvania. First match of the series is at Mayberry Gun Club in Maryland second weekend of April. Their matches fill very very fast but anyone can come spectate if you’d like to learn more. They are on Facebook and use that page for discussion and announcement. All match signups are done through Practiscore.

www.peacemakernational.com. they do LRC matches most months, just fun belly matches out to 800+ yards (range goes to 1200). then they have a couple of PRS matches a year. above winchester and below hagerstown, west of frederick. next prs match is apr 14 and lrc is apr 28. they also do 'frontier days' at their 1200 yd range where you can just go out and shoot all their targets on an informal basis.

apr 28 is their next long range challenge. this is a totally casual match, all belly/prone, zero pressure, no clock/buzzer. don't wait til june to start having fun. also, their first prs match this upcoming saturday. as long as you have dope for your gun, give it a try. they should have some prone stages and also some positional stages. the sooner you start doing this stuff the sooner you keep getting better.

Oh man going to have to look at my calendar and see if I can get this one in would really boost my confidence in shooting in generally that far. I’m in Pasadena, MD.

Where are you coming from in MD? I'm in Pasadena, MD if we are close or along a route we could carpool save some gas money
I live in La Plata. It is about 2.5 hours from me. Have you shot at Alexander Sporting Farms in Galena, MD? That’s where I occasionally go since it has a 600yd range. Let me get back to you re: carpooling. There’s a chance I might have to leave early.

The Mayberry Game Protective in Westminster has two PRS club matches later this summer as part of the Mason Dixon Precision Rifle Series. They’re listed on practiscore and have a Facebook page.

Can you shoot prone out to 600 here? And do they have steel or is it all paper? I go to DELMARVA Sporting Clay I planned on going this Saturday but you can only shoot 100, 200, 300, and 500. The 500 is prone or paper and 200, 300 is steel and paper.

The Peacemaker Long Range challenge is a very relaxed match. Low stress, no positional stages, and very easy going atmosphere.

Very beginner friendly as I'm sure you've practiced way more on your belly than other positions found in regular matches.

yeah peacemaker LRC is all belly/prone. no timer, not on the clock. great opportunity to get dope for your rifle. if you ask you will get all the help you need.

I saw during registration that shooters spot/score for each other. Is it mandatory that I bring a spotting scope?
nope, the range provides one for each stage and normally a few folks bring their own, to help out calling hits and misses, and to see what the wind is doing 'out there.'
