I am a handicap shooter trying to get an idea of what is out there that I can do, Does anyone know of places around the Houston Texas area I can test myself against others? Looking for anything from 100 yd shoots - 1000 yd.

Bayou Rifles has a 1000 yd. match once a month, and an alternating 600 and 300 yd. match monthly. Golden Traingle Gun Club in Beaumont has a 600 yd. prone once a month.

Bayou Rifles. Two locations, one on the west side featuring mostly pistols and rimfire, and one on the south side, which has one of the few 1000yd ranges in Texas. They have all sorts of matches, including 1000yd F-Class on the first Sunday of every month.

Re: Looking for Comps near Houston area

Are these matches something I will be able to do on crutches. I got in a car accident in Dec 05' causing me to lose my leg above my knee and broke my pelvis(which makes it difficult to wear a prosthetic). I guess im just a little nervous jumping into it being the only match I ever shot was a 100 yd BR factory shoot which was a local for fun kinda deal. I just have no experience in whats needed and I really have no resource of help from any one here locally being I am really the only avid shooter that I know. Thanks for the references guys ill be definatley looking into the 300 and 600 to start off and move my way into a 1000 yd shoot. Ohh and another quick questions, as of right now the 2 rifles I have are listed in my sig, which would you recommend in the 300 600 and 1000 yd shoots. They both are 1/2 moa guns out to 200 for sure havent done to much shooting out past that. I have shot at 600 a couple times with the 308 and shot a 1/2 moa with 175 SMKs. Also do you guys think these guns will even be competitive?

Re: Looking for Comps near Houston area

They will be fine. I would start with the 308 in the FTR class. The 300 would put you open class, to much gear to carry to the line.

They are a great bunch of guys at Bayou, You'll have fun.
