Looking for least offensive muzzle device that's not an A2 flash hider

I very much appreciate all the feedback you guys have given. When I started this thread I was wanting more info about concussive effects than noise. If you complain about like loud noises at a gun range then it's probably not a good place for you to hang, kinda like the people who move next to an airport them complain about the noise from the planes. One of the places I shoot is a public range where there are only rifle 4 shooting stations and they're very close together and they're covered by a tin roof. I was out one day and had to move to the pistol range as the guy next to me had a ported 300 Win Mag and I could feel my hat move every time he took a shot. the noise of people shooting next to me doesn't usually bother me, but the concussion from that rifle was just too much and I don't want to me that guy just to have a cool looking muzzle attachment.

Maybe I'm missing something, but.... the way I'm thinking of it.... "concussive effects" and "loud noises" are the same thing as loud noises result from the sound shock wave made by compressed air that also has a concussive effect on the shooters port and starboard of your position.....

There’s definitely a difference (at least to me) between the concussive effect of some brakes and the volume of sound on others.

There’s one guy that’s at my range most times that I’m there that has some kind of brake (not sure of the brand) that makes a super loud “snap” when he fires that’s different than the usual lower range “boom” + pressure wave of other brakes. I can be two tables down from him and that “snap” gets me every time. There. Another guy that’s around a lot that has a brake on his AK that looks like it came off of a howitzer. That brake is pure gas wave and will blow stuff off of my bench from time to time if I’m next to him

Like some others above, I'll also say KVP linear. I've bought three of them. They really do seem to "push" the concusion downrange a little. They are well machined and look good and are affordable. I really like them. However, the rifle under the bed has a flash hider. Those linears have a lot of flash in the dark.

Don't know about y'all, but I sure have spent A LOT of money on muzzle devices just to realize how good -- if not perfect -- the $5 A2 is.

I’d love to be able to use an A2 but NJ banned flash hiders and suppressors so everyone resorts to using the “loudeners” (aka muzzle brakes). The ban on FHs and suppressors is probably sponsored by the NJ association of hearing aid professionals as way of drumming up business

I either have run or still currently run:

Miculek comp
JP 3 port comp/brake
PWS comp/flash hider
Lantac dragon brake
Surefire brake
Surefire flash hider
Griffin comp
AAC 51t brake
Seekins Precision ATC comp

Of those, I’d say the PWS and Griffin are the least obnoxious. Not the best at flash suppression or mitigating muzzle rise, but just the least “annoying” ones to other people around.... YMMV. In the end though, just run a can??

Has anyone tried boring out the bore of a brake (or use a 9mm brake if you find one threaded in 1/2x28)? In theory, this would allow gasses to escape in a linear orientation and reduce pressure pulse to the side brake ports.
