So Cal
San Angelo area specifically.

Have a 243 AI and 338 LM with premium optics but I lack the knowledge/skills to effectively use them.

Looking for a friend to be a long range mentor and range buddy.

I know of a 1000 yard tactical range in the local area that is cheap and well maintained.

Really need help with the optical part of things...drop charts, trajectories, etc are difficult to understand on the net. Prefer face to face instruction.

Willing to trade reloading lessons for optics lessons if you'd prefer it that way.

Let me know... thanks!

You've got these guys not too far away -- certainly one of their guys can go over hardware with you.

Re: Looking for long range mentor in W. Texas

Already have plans to go this weekend...

Hardware isn't what I'm seeking knowledge about...

I'm looking for a guy to show me how he does long range..show me your charts, explain why you do what you do, give me a quick and dirty primer on how to use the scope properly, etc.

I'm not new to shooting, but am new to long range shooting.

I think the online training here is a great place to start until you find some hands on instruction.

This might help also, you will be surprised at what has been asked here before. Chances are you are not the first to ask it.
Empty your cup and good luck.

This isn't much of a member link up if nobody wants to link up.

This is Texas for Gods sake....I know a couple of you out there have rifles.

Re: Looking for long range mentor in W. Texas

I was in the area today and made the drive to Spindler, however gates were locked and no one in sight. Any idea why?

If I were in the SA area more often I would meet up with ya, however im down maybe twice a year.

Re: Looking for long range mentor in W. Texas

Not a clue...I'm heading out there tomorrow for my first time...well, if they're open.

Appreciate the heads up...I'll call before I go.

"Any idea why?"

Talked to the owner and he's closing up permanently.

Wasn't making enough to cover the bills. Really unfortunate as the place looked awesome!

So I guess I'm looking for a mentor with a range...yeah right.
