so I have a stock I am going to try to trade for a decent optic to get started in f class.

looking for some reccomendations in the 300 350 price range as I think this is what my stock would be worth in trade.

what I want would be something like a 6.5-20 etc. for f class shooting, I have one Nikon 4.5-14X40 i use for an LTR for shooting out to 600,

but I want another optic for longer range, and would like to get to at least 20-24X on top end, anything in this price range that I may look for when hoping to trade it?

Re: looking for scope reccomendation around $300-3

I am using a swfa super sniper 16 power out to 1000. It costs about 300 and I have had good luck with it. It has decent glass and always comes back to zero.

Re: looking for scope reccomendation around $300-3

Thats a tough price range for a good optic. People are always so quick to reccommend the Super Sniper, but I personally have never liked fixed power scopes. Maybe they are good for some as I know that everyone has their own personal preferance, but I'll always be a varible power guy.

You might look at the Falcon Menace, I think you can get what you are wanting for about $400 that includes shipping. I dont have one of these, but I do have one on the way so I cant give any reviews on it. Also there were some Vortex Crossfires on sale for $99 at SWFA and I ordered one for a .223 and it works great for the price I paid. Ive used it out to 400 yards this past week and its doing pretty good. It is a Adjustable Objective scope and I really dont care for that, but hey it was $99 so I cant be too picky. Im pretty sure you can get a Bushnell 3200 for somewhere around that price also and everyone seems to always have good things to say about them. The Nikon Buckmaster is also in that price range and sometimes you can catch them on sale at Midway. I have one of these in a 6-18X44 and it works great, tracks well, and is very clear at all powers.

Good Luck,

Re: looking for scope reccomendation around $300-3

The Bushnell Elite 3200 and 4200 (the 4200 is a little out of your price-range) are decent, budget-minded scope options.

The problem is that the closest you'll get to a 6.5-20x with the 3200 is a 7-21x and it will likely run you around $375.

I have a buddy who is running a Millet 6-25x56 Gold scope in F-Class and he has been very pleased with it overall. I have shot his rifle that this scope is mounted on and the glass is decent (not S&B, etc....but decent). 30mm tube, target turrets, etc. etc. He got his from SWFA for around $350 and it is a good entry-level scope if you can't spend more on better glass at this time.

Re: looking for scope reccomendation around $300-3

thanks, ill start looking into these while i start pedaling my bell and carlson.

appreciate the feedback, and I realize my price range isnt going to afford me a duper optic, but if it tracks well and isclear enough for perfect daytime conditions ill behappy.

I also wouldn't look past the Vortex 6.5-20, it sells at Vortex for about $460 so I'm sure Liberty, SWFA or CameralandNY could make you even a little better deal.

The 30mm tube will give more adjustment then the Bushnell 3200 I believe and the reticle choices (target dot) might work better than the mildot for F-class.

Mueller 8-32 or the eradicator series.

Both come in under you price point. mueller has a reputation for excellent glass and it will leave you money for a good base and rings.
Nikon also makes a fine 6-18, you will need an angled base with Nikon scopes.

Ditto Trevor, "Thats a tough price range for a good optic." especially for F class. But if that's the budget, and F class is the thing, then the SS 20 power is your scope.
