I know a good one in south Alabama, Coffee Springs. That is quite a drive for you but maybe an option if you can't find one closer. He has FFL, manufacturer license, machinist, and gunsmith.

I work in Huntsville and would like to find a good local gunsmith myself.
Craig's Guns and Tactical on Hwy 72 in Athens advertised as having "tactical" rifles and a gunsmith. I've been in there a couple of times (good selection of powder), but know anything about their work.

I work on University Dr so I'm close to Athens somewhat anyway. Couple guys at work do a lot of business at Craigs. I'll drop by tomorrow after work and check out their powder too, MAYBE I'll luck out.
