Rifle Scopes Looking for some input...

I have a Steyr Scout rifle I need to put optics on. I can mount forward in the typical scout fashion or to the rear.
My dilemma is that there's limited few quality forward mountable scout scopes. Leupold makes one and SWFA has a Leupold special made to there specs that might fit the bill. But, I'm not sure if I am totally in love with the forward mount idea. I think a Rear mount, light weight, fast acquiring 1-4, 1.2-4 or 1.5-4 scope might be the ticket.

I have a SWFA SS/HD 1-4 already in inventory, but the eye relief is critical unless you bump it to 1.5 mag or better, and it's a little heavy. The optics and the reticle are great other than that.
I have even looked at the Trijicon TR24 Accupoint, but it wont be much for any kind of range past 100 yards unless I practice hold over and that's not optimum.

Different tools for different jobs.I have found there are two outcomes to thoughts, one where you see your thoughts in Action, the other where actions become FACTS. They don't always match its Trial and error.

on movers ,jumpers or runners the scout mounted scopes are fast and Do that Job well. The view is also vast and blind spot are very Limited.Use the scout scope point blank range Of the weapons capability .If this is for Killing on a walk about then scout scope all the way. I would opt for Hold over reticle to get past Point blank range if You need to get pst 250 yards.
If you seek precision accuracy the scout scope is not the best choice.

I do not have One hammer, I like doing jobs correct and choose the tools for that job.

I would think that any of the new breed of 1-4 to 1.5-6 class scopes would be the way to go.

You may be able to use a quality pistol scope as a scout scope, but they are normally fixed power.
