I bought my dad a Zink Call of Death for Christmas due to the fact that he has had shitty calls forever. Im trying to find another call for him that will compliment it well. Im getting him a DRC duck call as well.

I have high end and low end calls on my lanyard. I have found that most calls sound good or they wouldn't be on the market. Check your local DU Chapter and find out if there is a local guy who makes calls. Being local and custom, maybe laserd to say something loving from a son, will add to the "value" of the call. I have an old cheap lohman wood call my dog (who has passed) chewed ever so slightly and it is priceless to me.
FWIW- single reed competition calls don't belong in the blind, low gravely double reeds are sweet in a fog covered swamp!

Yeah, DRC are made probably an hour from where he grew up in MN.
I'll probably give them a call and see if they do engravings.

I have used Haydel, Yentzen calls all across the US over the last 25 years; but a custom as said above would mean a whole lot more to your dad, especially engraved.
I had a call engraved by a trophy shop locally when I gave one to a Jarhead buddy for a wedding present. The guy at the trophy shop thought it was a great idea and started telling people to bring them in. He charged me $10. My buddy still has the call but his wife left him for a drunk Indian in Nebraska... Anyone know a Nebraska trooper named VonMinden?
