I am looking into buying a new bipod for my RRA AR15 since all I've been using is a grip pod with extendable legs. To start off I know that atlas is the best and would buy one but I can't dump that much money into the bipod when I have other things I need as well but trust me if money wasn't an issue I would. I was settling on the Harris BRMS as the one but then came across a weaver tactical that looked and functioned just like the GG&G it looked and felt sturdy but I have never heard of these and don't know the quality so wanted to send it out there cause I like the style and function of that type of bipod and it is at an affordably price but don't want to waste my money so any thoughts would help

I like my atlas.... I also have a few harris. But I would like to sell all them to get more atlas.

I too know the Atlas is probably better but I use Harris and have not cried about them at all. Watch the clssifieds and you can get some decent deals on the Harris bipods. Once the market finally gets saturated with the Atlas there will be some deals in them as well.

Seriously...with the Atlas' demand still VERY high, with Kasey continuing to receive mil/le contracts for the Atlas, and with somewhat limited supply to fill all of the interested persons' orders (both civilian and mil/le)...I wouldn't bet on seeing a big price decrease anytime in the foreseeable future. Even used V7 models are going for roughly the $200 mark these days.

Have both and am satisfied with either. The Atlas I can load better.
If you can afford the Atlas, try it. If you aren't impressed, someone here will buy it for what you paid or very close to it.

I was not talking about Atlas lowering prices. I was talking about individuals owning them and unloading them at discounted prices from new. Just last week there was an Atlas on here that lasted a couple days even though the shipped price was lower than what one could be bought for from Triad.
Hide and watch. The used Atlas prices will come down. Everything does sooner or later.

I just bought an Atlas here from a member. I've had Harris and others. The Atlas is by far the best I've ever had. I was really hesitant about spending the money, but I feel it was worth every penny after using it.

Not unless you are particularly fat and your gut keeps you that far off the ground!!!
Seriously, it all comes down to body type, the conditions in which you are shooting, the rifle you are mounting it on, etc. For me, I want as low to the ground as possible when shooting prone and I have never really been in a position where I needed more than the 9" of max height the BRM-S offers except for when I have the misfortune of shooting in the snow or in tall grass in which I usually don't shoot prone unless I absolutely have to anyway.
P.S. - Yet another "advantage" to the Atlas is the ability to install pretty quickly/easily the 3" leg extensions so that you can go from the standard 5-9" height to 12" in height.

I am having a GAP Crusader being built for me with a McMillan Cheek Piece and with a GAP precision muzzle brake. GAP already has a Vortex Razor HD EBR-2B for me. I already have a Harris Ultralight bipod but was wondering if it could handle the Crusader. Which Atlas Bipod would be a better choice.

Get the Harris and the small attachments for it and it will last you for a good long time(Mine went through an entire year of OEF VII). Get the Atlas and your great grand kids will use it. Yes they are pricey, but the harris can be given to a kid's rifle when you have the solvency to get the Atlas for your's

I used a friends Harris while I was waiting on my Atlas to show up. The Harris worked just fine. But, the Atlas blew the Harris out of the water once I got my hands on it. Its absolutely beautiful and has a lot of great little functions. And once attached to the rail (I have the 1913 adapter) it’s a BRICK! Which is a feeling I like all my stuff to have.
The only downside to the Atlas is that the leg length is limited to the grooves cut in them for the collars. So it is possible to be set up on angled terrain that you can’t “adjust out of” 100% like you can the Harris.
If you have the money get the Atlas, it’s simply that nice. But the Harris worked just fine for me also.

As already said, the LW is a throw-lever, quick release option (nice if you are moving the bipod between different rifles, taking it off for ease of transport, etc.) while the other is the standard "clamp" model (2 screws tighten the bipod mount down to the rail instead of the throw-lever mount).
If you are going for the Atlas, be sure to get in touch with GAP while they have your rifle and have them install the forend rail for you which you will need for mounting the Atlas. The guys at GAP will know what you need, but by way of example, here is a link to a couple forend rails:

Finally ordered my atlas 8/30 and received it today and dammit if i don't have the whole rest of the day of work before i can head out to use it, why cant the UPS man come at the end of the day..... One thing that was of notice and i guess this was a lack of research on my part is it doesn't have the side to side swivel (sorry for not knowing the technical term for it) like a Harris. have any of you felt a greater need for that when using the Atlas? either way i am anxious to get out and use it. anything is better than my grip pod at this point.

A couple of motions are noted with bipods;'
PAN - which means the muzzle can be swept left to right
CANT - which means the horizontal cross hair can be aligned with the horizon by movement in a mechanical feature rather than adjusting leg length. We call it by the proper name "CANT", Harris calls this "Swivel" which is easier to sell and also describes the motion.
The Atlas does have both and can be seen when attached to a rifle and the tension knob is not tight (turned in direction of arrow).
