I would appreciate any input from any who has experience with manufactures or custom shops that make/build AR10's in caliber 7mm-08 Remington. I am interested in shooting long distance 900 to 1200 yards. I know there are better calibers for long distance shooting but I just happen to have a boat load of Hornady 139gr. American Whitetail ammo and hate to die before shooting the ammo. I am a resident of CA, and know of only one custom shop that will make their rifle CA compliant. It is a new shop in Albuquerque, NM called Black Briar Inc. I could just buy a new Remington 700 SPS for about $560 and push all that ammo through it. That would be the most economical choice, however, buying and shooting the current crop of "modern rifles" and high tech scopes isn't cheap but it is a hell of a lot of fun.

You are going to have to build your own, or buy a gun and change the barrel i think. I personally haven't seen a 7mm-08 commercially built AR.

I would vote for building your own, would probably be cheaper since you wouldn't be buying 2 barrels.

And for the barrel, I'm not saying there isn't a company out there making pre-fit 308 AR barrels in 7mm-08, I just don't recall any. I'm sure there is someone somewhere making one though. But you could easily get someone to spin it up for you too.

I would absolutely call George at GA Precision and ask about a GAP-10. They do about everything in the .308 bolt face family with that rifle. They have calibers listed, then it says “custom orders.”

I have a GAP-10 G2 in 6.5CM and I couldn’t be happier. It’s a hammer. Super reliable, and have shot MANY .5 MOA groups.

Worth a phone call to check.
