Hadn't seen this discussed yet, and it is starting to bug me just a tad.

This whole business about "one big beautiful bill" for reconciliation (in the House) vs. Two smaller bills in the Senate. The Senate has quickly passed the first of the two smaller bills already, while we await the House "one big" bill. The concern being, the 1st of two smaller Senate bills does not include the provisions to make Trump's temporary tax cuts permanent. The continued fear being that the 2nd of the two bills won't come before the tax cuts expire later this year. It seems like the "Swamp" (i.e. Senate RINOs) want that tax money.

Is this really a big deal, though? Lots of things can happen. The first Senate bill could be "amended," or the conference committee can adopt the House Bill which does include the permanent tax cuts. And, should the tax cuts expire at year's end, how many $$$ are we talking about per tax payer? The media is giving me the impression that these other things (Border, Military, etc. etc.) are Trump's greater financial priorities... not making these tax cuts permanent. I'm not so sure. I can see the Border being a priority, but not all this immediate Military spending. I wonder it the "Military Industrial Complex" is at it again.

Thoughts? And, just out of curiosity, which would you prefer?

    1) $5000.00 stimulus check from DOGE savings; or

    2) Making the tax cuts permanent.

Keep your eye on total $ spent. Speaker Johnson's version is $7.1B according to the Senate Budget chair. the Senate version passed Friday night is $6.1B and does not add to the National Debt, again according to Senate Budget Chair. if continuing resolution continues total is 7.6T, again per Senate Budget chair......the $5K DOGE check would be an inflation continuation.......so no checks to everyone.....the expiring tax cuts need to be reauthorized....or else the Trump train derails.....Trumps long term desire to replace income tax with tariffs and taxes has much merit. So many changes at once.......

Keep your eye on total $ spent.

    Yup.... "Follow the Money!" :D

The $5K DOGE check would be an inflation continuation.......so no checks to everyone....

Which I'd probably not qualify for, anyway. I usually never qualify for those "Stimulus Checks" they keep purporting on YouTube, even though I'm on Social Security and beyond Full Retirement Age.

the expiring tax cuts need to be reauthorized....or else the Trump train derails.....

I do hope he understands that... and does something about it. Because it looks like the Senate Swamp is trying to take it away from him.

Trump's long term desire to replace income tax with tariffs and taxes has much merit. So many changes at once.......

I think that's a longer term goal, though. We have to do impact/fallout analysis from imposing those tariffs before we go all the way with them. But I agree it might be a longer term objective and, hopefully, balance out deficiencies in the work force, leading to less revenue being collected and less social security money going in.

And, if I didn't make it clear, I'd prefer the permanent tax cuts and not the DOGE check.

the $5K DOGE check would be an inflation continuation
    Compared to what?

No doge cutting at all is far more inflationary than spending 20% of that amount that would be saved.

    So once again…

    Compared to what.

This is the parroting done by the meat sacks on tv.

Of course it more inflationary than just out right not spending the money.

    And…

Of course it is more inflationary by spending the amount cut onto the national debt.

Any act you do to increase the amount of money supply ( as in spending it in ANY form) is inflationary.

Pay down debt and balance the budget. Then your taxes drop dramatically.

We do NOT have a revenue problem in the USA.

    We have a spending problem.

Cut the spending… dramatically. The economy will explode with growth. Art Laffer knew this decades ago.

Fuck Maynard Keynes and his socialist BS. A socialist is someone who wants everything you have except your job.

    Sirhr

I want both as well. I'm one pissed off motherfucker that the billions of dollars have been blown, stolen, and sent to other country's for transgender faggot studies. I want my fucking money back, all of it. My wife and I pay 40k a year just in federal taxes. Thats why we cant get ahead. Our money has been stolen and wasted. I dont mind paying taxes, but it needs to be 5 to10% flat tax. No more bullshit property taxes, and all the other taxes state and local, gas tax, all the bullshit taxes need to go away. Sick of being a tax slave in my own country. I work my fucking ass off to make a good living and they are stealing from me and my family. I want mother fuckers caught and I want them in prison. Kash I want to see people in government that stole from the American taxpayers in prison. Lets fucking go!!!

If I were in charge, here's what i would want done:

    1. We will make it a federal felony to offer or accept money or gifts from lobbyists, corporations, special interest groups or foreign countries. Your base pay is all you get. Enforcement would be vigorous. If you accept money from another government, you cannot hold office but might just hang for treason if your quid quo pro justifies it.
    2. Term limits would be implemented at the Federal level making it impossible for any politician to serve for more than 12 years…ever! Service to country was never intended to be a career or a way to get rich.
    3. Campaign contributions would be outlawed and cease immediately. I would create no less than 5 free network television & radio channels designated for political campaigning. One channel for national races, one for state races and a third for local races plus two more for special events and education (because some of the issues we vote on are quite involved so we need analysts to do point/counter-point review). There would be one Governmental website for campaigning with pages for national, state, county & municipal races. Each candidate would have a set spending limit for signs, letters, etc. The playing field would be level. No more “buying an election.” Everyone would have exactly the same exposure which would motivate them to focus on why they are the best candidate rather than focusing on mudslinging of their opponents.
    4. I would cease all federal funding to sanctuary cities that defy the U.S. Constitution/Bill of Rights (especially the Second Amendment), federal law (SCOTUS decisions) and bring charges and prosecute any politician, judge, law enforcement/DOJ or other official/public servant who willfully violates the Constitution/laws of the United States. The justice system needs removal of all top heads.
    5. I would secure the border first, then enforce existing immigration laws with a provision that those already here (who cooperate, provide all data to check their background history, health, etc.) can stay under a provisional plan that benefits the nation (like providing military service or public works projects like building dams, bridges, street repair and creation of roads) with deferred voting rights for 10 years but for those sucking the country’s financial resources dry, we would cease that and pay a bounty to pre-screened, authorized bounty hunters for the removal of such undesirable illegal aliens (so we’re paying only for results). If an illegal alien was found a second time inside the U.S. illegally, he would not be deported but rather, sent to a foreign prison on another continent where the cost per inmate can be as low as twenty cents per day. No social programs (Welfare, Social Security, Food Stamps, healthcare, state issued driver’s licenses, etc.) would be available to illegal aliens. They would fall under a federal classification (per the Constitution) including a Federal one-year driver’s license that is obtained when they complete Drivers Ed training and pay for their auto insurance). Uninsured drivers using a Federal driver’s license would be subject to immediate deportation. Our borders would be secured by any/every method that makes sense and a worker visa program would be implemented. Employers caught knowingly hiring illegals would face criminal charges. Basically, eliminate the magnet that draws illegals here.
    6. All foreign aid to countries that do not provide military airbases and reliable intelligence to the U.S. or engage in mutually beneficial alliances (both economically and politically) would cease. We’re deep in debt, right? Why are we sending money to countries that hate us? They can hate us for free. The U.S. would withdraw/cease funding of the UN, NATO and World Health Organization.
    7. We would drill for oil and gas aggressively in the U.S., using our rich petroleum to balance the budget and fully secure U.S. currency as the world’s PETRODOLLAR. This would be deemed a priority…essential to national security. A comprehensive, government-rewarded (not funded) alternative fuel/energy technology race would begin. Its mission would be to cease the need for importation of fossil fuels completely and (if/when practical) to sell these technological breakthroughs abroad. We present the challenge and reward the entity that steps up with a viable solution. This beats funding research and development with unknown results. The rewards programs only pay for results.
    8. Reinstatement of the Usury Laws regulating the issuance of fees and interest on loan and credit accounts would be a top priority. The repeal of Usury laws was a travesty that needs to be fixed. It kills consumers.
    9. All laws enacted by Congress would be applied to those in Congress as well…politicians would be treated like all other citizens…no special entitlements, retirement plans, healthcare benefits, etc. I would also enact a law that makes lying to the public while in office a criminal act and subject to civil liability by any citizen provably injured by their lies.
    10. Income taxes should be abolished in favor of a national sales tax. If you save your money, it isn’t taxed. If you suddenly have significantly more money in every paycheck then you won’t mind spending a bit of it on a national sale tax. A system for the collection/disbursement of sales tax to the federal, state, and municipal levels is already in place so you could completely shut down the IRS. No more tax returns…not for citizen or companies. A flat federal sales tax applies to all purchases (except food, prescriptions, and life-saving devises (like oxygen tanks).
    11. A federal mandate REQUIRING ALL SCHOOLS PROVIDE SUCCESSFUL READING, WRITING, ARITHMETIC, AND CIVICS COURSES using an approved series of methods with testing proven to be fair to all students and delivering consistent results. No more experiments with dubious “NEW MATH” that was implemented so kids could not turn to their parents for help. It was designed to make young kids believe the “school authority” is who they must listen to…not their parents. No more. The national education guidelines stick to basics and raises the bar to testing performed back in the early 1900s (which most college grads cannot pass now). Hell, they can’t even tell you what the branches of government are or where the capital of the United States is. Schools caught engaging in questionable curriculum (like drag queens discussing gender modification) would be subject to restaffing and guilty educators terminated whether they have tenure or not.
    12. Removal of all governmental healthcare control and defunding/termination of the Dept. of Homeland Security. We do not need or want a standing Army that’s sole purpose is to control/take up arms against the citizenry of the United States. Equipment, structures, and supplies of the DHS would be transferred to the Army Reserves.

Devil is in the details, but I'm all for a national sales tax to replace federal income tax. That way everybody pays into the system regardless of your "adjusted income" level

But until then, make the current tax law permanent

Would you also include (in those items to be taxed) things not currently taxed, like food & Groceries, clothing, etc. etc.? Because that's the only way the Govt. will get more money out of me. And would you get rid of State Sales taxes or keep them?

Initially I would say yes to items currently not taxed at fhe federal level, but everything is negotiable along with the percentage rate. Food = x%, vehicles = x%, housing = x%. No federal tax forms to fill out, no deductions, no earned income, no records or receipts to keep up with, no audits, etc. More you buy, more you pay

At the state level, that's up to the states to figure out like it is now

the $5000 would not be an inflation continuation as it would not be new printed money, but from the savings
