and it's a good thing those cops slammed him around as they were leading him in....can't let him talk. that sit well with the masses? wouldn't you think you'd let him say whatever incriminating thing he wanted? law enforcement just can't stop making people lose respect for them. at this point, i am beginning to be ashamed that i ever served as an LEO.
There would have been no need for that shit (and it was inappropriate to say the least) if they had proper control of their prisoner. Proper arm hold, proper control. He would have been nicely frog-marched to wherever they were taking him.
But they don’t teach control and restraint any more… or at least properly. My last two years, they shitcanned our c&r training… specifically to keep up practice on cuffing, escorting, helping perp up from the ground without causing pain or joint stress. Protecting officers by making sure the perp was under total control… that was not violent or pain-causing…. Which just ecalates a suspect and causes issues. The goal is to exert total control without causing pain or stress. It can be done.
For us it got replaced with 8 hours of mandatory classroom training on dealing with same-sex domestic violence. Not making that shit up. It was useful…. Not.
So now you have officers who aren’t properly trained… and not properly refreshed. Who only know pile on and beat the shit out of people. And are on a hair trigger to do so… because their lack of skill and training makes them afraid and prone to go full hands-on.
Don’t be ashamed over your service. Be mad that people aren’t being trained like we were. So they can be all woke. And extra-violent because they don’t know how to do things any other way!
Another NYPD failure of leadership… not that anywhere else is likely much better.
