Loose under recoil, tripod

I have a Anvil 30 and a recently purchased two-vets ballhead. Using an ARCA attachment, the rifle wants to come off the clamp with rear-ward recoil after a few hots. happened with both setups.

Other than a lot more forward pressure, anything to help maintain the rifle in position?

When mounted with a Pic rail (and crossbar, obviously this is not an issue.

Yeah but it should really be a standard size Arca then there wouldn’t be a problem

It should have adjustable tension the same reason every pic rail attachment and scope mount has adjustable tension. Even though there is a "standard" there's tolerances that need accounted for.

Really? Do you have a link? Below is from RRS and I tend to hold this view as I have never been able to find an actual spec beyond "38mm"

Well mine are foundation ts customs and area 419 and you couldn’t beat them out of the clamp on an anvil 30 with a sledge and since those 3 companies and really right stuff make good shit I’m gonna assume they’re the “standard” so anything that doesn’t fit isn’t the fault of an anvil 30 I wouldn’t call it a drawback.

If your gear is moving under recoil you can do a few things.
In order of least to most cost to you:
1. All of our plates and a lot of other companies design in threaded ports where you can install 1 or 2 cap head screws to use as a safety/recoil stop since it is a friction clamp, it’s there in case and works well in this instance. Just install them where you’d like your rifle to stay and it’s done. Plates are usually shipped with the screws so this would be free.
2. Add some gaffers tape onto one of the moveable jaws of whatever clamp you’re using. That will reduce movement if the plate is undersized.
3. Add a thicker wear plate or a washer onto the clamps to remove extra space. Time and money

Obviously you can try out new plates from wherever or the newer Anvil-30 ARC which now has adjustable clamp tension. Reach out if you have any more questions.

Not sure how many ways I can say it. THAT is RRS’s spec for a dovetail interface which they released relatively recently.

It is NOT ARCA Swiss which is an actual company and what is called ATCA is their dove tail interface . These interfaces originally were for the photographic industry.

The simple fact remains that ARCA Swiss does not publish a detailed spec (which by needs is more than just the 38mm width).

So, RRS decided to generate and release a spec for THEIR 38mm dovetail interface.. But their competitors in the wider industry do not seem all be racing to embrace it and hence elevate a competitor.

As a result, it’s possible to have slight incompatibilities between dovetail parts from different manufactures

I misspoke. Variance. Now grab a ladder and climb down off that high horse.
Scope mounts that attach to MIL-STD 1913 rails all have adjustable tension for that exact same reason. It's more important a clamp holds a rail that's .005" undersized vs pretending dozens of manufacturers will get it perfect every time. Mil figured that out. Every scope mount mfg figured that out. RRS figured that out.
