I havent been on much or been shooting much as work has been my #1 lately. Well I closed out a contract a couple weeks ago and have had time to slow down and get covered by shit...
I spent last week in Midland TX (Hell...). Anyhow I was trying to shake some tree's and find some work for my crew out that way.
Monday I left my glasses on the dash of my truck and the Transition coating broke down rendering them useless.
Wednesday I was getting ready to head out towards Big Lake and while moving a cooler from the front passenger seat to the back of the truck I set my MB-Pro on the hood of the truck.
Took off and got up to about 60mph when something hit the windshield all of the sudden. Kinda looked like a bird through my dicked up glasses so kept going. I got to Big Lake before actually realizing what the hell happened.
Its a solid $1500 lesson for sure but I have been hard at work on putting out fires before they start.
Macbook was purchased prior to my 2011 trip to Iraq and includes details, pics, and documents of my adventures, work, and other issues plus TONS of personal information including the PDF document of my SF86 filing, Passport scans, ID's, SS Cards, Wife/children SSN and Info.
I was able to get back to the scene and found my cover that was 10' off the road. It had tiretracks on the top and rocks stuck in the bottom piece. Nothing else.
Imidietely hooked up the Find my Iphone app and setup the computer to erase the hard drive when it comes online. It had a screen lock but looking online it appears thats the downfall of the Mac as its very passable...
So far I have:
Set to Erase when brought online
Filed a missing report ( I dont expect to get it back but you never know)
Spent Friday changing Email, Forum, and other account passwords
Enrolled in a years worth of LifeLock for entire family
Anything else that I might be missing to do?
Its funny its not the $1500 computer that I am worried about its all the information on said computer that really worries me.
On an up note I did get a Offer Letter on Wednesday to take another gig in another shitbox. Some might take a computer going south as a sign that it wasnt meant to be but I havent been to said country so its worth a look.
BTW switching back to a PC from a MAC blows.....
