Lost Nation R&D biathlon stock?

so ive been wanting a SV-99 for the better part of a decade....something about it....

ive been wanting to build something similar with a Savage mk2 FVSR.....mainly because i already have a couple of them laying around.....not exactly a toggle action, but i can overlook that detail.

seeing as biathalon stocks are not exactly common, and even less so for the MK2, my options are limited

i did stumble across a smaller outfit making what could be a promising chassis, the Lost nation VBS stock.

ive just not heard any reviews on them.....its also hard to tell from the pics they provide, but the build quality also seems suspect....but pics can be deceiving.

anyone have any input on these?


the other stock im thinking about is the Rhineland Arms Scorpion stock....which has a little more of a vintage "soviet" feel to it.

The printed parts look like typical printed parts but the metal bits look well done.
Maybe a Sako Quad Range would scratch that itch.

For reviews you'll need to probably look on biathlon feeds and ask questions there, due to being a specialist sport. Nice looking stock though.

in all fairness i do actually believe they cast their parts from what ive been able to see.

and ideally ide like to not have to buy another action haha....the smart thing to do would be to buy a CZ, Anschutz, or 10/22 action.....but the savages are what i have.

my main concern is this area right here, where the stock attaches.

it looks like there is no 'metal to metal' connection between the stock and the bedding block.

it appears to be all held together by the 2 polymer clam-shell skins.

i just dont know how robust that interface is...it seems we have some members here who have some experience with them, hopefully they will be able to chime in and see if they have any input.


other than that i really kind of like the package.

I just went ahead and ordered one for my Izmash, they have a warning of 2-4 weeks time frame for shipping on the web page.
When I receive it I'll let you know how the connection / stiffness feels if you like.

Hi I am not the guy making the Lost Nation stock just a very happy user of them.
Ethan has been very good to my daughter and other biathletes I know in getting a good fitting stock.
I highly recommend his product. It has stood up very well to our use.
Be sure to look at some of the “upgrades” that you can get. Better hand stops and cheek pieces, larger standing grips, all in the name of a better fit and shot.

they are pretty robust then? no issues with that stock to chassis transition point i take it?

No I have seen any issues.
Over the years I have seen racers fall and break all different stocks.
I am sure these would break as well!
None of these stocks are made for battle but are made to adjust and be “light”. That said they are not really treated with kid gloves. These do have several connections so you should take care in keeping them tight. That will help with the rigidity and prevent levering and breaking.

@Schütze, did you ever install your Izhmash 7-2 in the LostNations stock? Any thoughts on it? Can you please post some photos?
I have a 7-2 and am thinking about picking up one of those chassis for it. Just wanting to see some photos and hear feedback before I do.

I am also interested to hear from anyone with first hand experience with this stock, I have the same concern mentioned earlier about the way the buttstock attaches. If it's not an issue this looks really good for the price.

Sorry, just got back from the precision rifle expo and couldn’t respond earlier. I received mine and sent it back 2 days later. There are some great ideas in it, but to ME it is not rigged enough. It feels kind of flimsy. Some parts look more like a home / garage made product.
The only alternative I can think of other than making one myself or buying a wooden one from Europe would be Joe Updike at http://www.accurateriflesystems.com/.
He is able to machine a very nice aluminum chassis for the izhmash. There is a member here who has some, @Topstrap.
I would love to hear that there is interest from others to have one made, this could hopefully convince him to make a couple.

I have one of their chassis but didn't buy directly from them. very nice unit but is designed for Biathlon use, I modified mine for my needs. I've not heard anything bad about them.
