My rings don't sit level on my scope base. That is, they are high with a small gap under/between base and ring on side opposite of the clamping plate. On the clamping side, the rings sit down tight against the base. This kind of defeats the purpose of the canting bubbles. I have built in cant unfortunately (in the rings). Could it be a base that isn't the correct spec? The gun is a Steyr SSG with a Steyr factory rail.

Re: Love my Spuhrs but......

I don't know much about Spuhr mounts... or... well anything really but I did run into that problem similar with some cheapo rings and mount on a friends AR.

For some reason if the brackets were one way, it wouldn't sit flush on the rail, but if you did a 180 on them it sat flush with no issue. Stupid sounding I know but about all I can offer.

Only other thing I can think would be mounting something else on the rail and see if that sits flush, or going all out and measuring the rail to see if it's true

Re: Love my Spuhrs but......

I am communicating with Hakan at this moment. He is as usual being helpful. It seems the "claw" on the bottom of the ring is bottoming out in the bottom of the groove on the rail preventing the ring from seating fully. To be continued......

Re: Love my Spuhrs but......

Thanks Milsurp. Hakan just supplied me with the full NATO document that includes the page you supplied. It turns out my rail is 17.8mm wide in the bottom of the groove where the spec calls for 15.6mm Max. My overly wide rail isn't allowing the ring's claw to go deep enough into the groove on the side of the rail to allow the ring to fully seat.

Time to break out the chainsaw for some mods.....
