I need to complete two ARs and being in California, I have to go featureless but I don't necessarily want A2 stocks.

I was going to buy Strike Industries Viper Modular fixed stock at Optics Planet but while I was shopping I saw the $15 Magpul MOE FCS in OD Green for a Commercial buffer tube.

I try not to have any Commercial spec parts on my ARs but I looked to see what the difference was and it seems to be mostly a larger tube diameter on Commercial buffer tubes by 0.030".

I normally apply some aluminum tape to buffer tubes to reduce rattle inside the stock so adding a bit more to take up the difference is no big deal. If I eventually switch to a Mil Spec stock, I'll just remove the tape and re-apply.

To complete the featureless setup I bought Strike Industries fin grips for about $9.

I may buy some Krylon Fusion flat black paint to go over the OD Green but I don't mind a bit of mismatch.

Furniture for an AR lower doesn't get much cheaper than that unless you use an LPK pistol grip (not an option for me).

Sounds like a good deal. I've only fired one weapon with the MOE rifle stock. The PRS butt pad fits the MOE rifle stock. After using it (safety harbor .50bmg upper) I realized the butt pad was too stiff/thin and did some homework. Good buy if you can make it work for you.

The MOE FCS stock is different from the MOE rifle stock.

The FCS fits over a carbine tube and has spacers to set LOP.

I'm not sure about the butt pad compatibility but I think there are Magpul options.

I think the MOE rifle stock looks weird, the FCS looks like a carbine stock but just doesn't collapse.
