LR-260 buffer question

I am putting together an AR-15 and an LR-260 simultaneously. I accidentally bought carbine buffers and buffer springs for both. My DPMS 260 has a rifle-length buffer tube and a PRS stock. I believe that I now need a full-length buffer; is this correct? Anybody have suggestions for a 24" target rifle being done on the cheap? Also, anybody want to trade for a carbine set-up? Or, know anyone that does?

Re: LR-260 buffer question

You need specific buffers and springs for BOTH your AR-15 and your LR-260/308 build...whether carbine-length or rifle-length, it is ill-advised to interchange buffers and springs between the small-frame ARs and their large-frame cousins and you cannot use a carbine buffer/spring in your A2 receiver extension that your PRS mounts on.

For the 260, you need a rifle-length .308 buffer. On the "cheap," you can pick up either an Armalite or DPMS rifle-length buffer and rifle-length buffer spring such as those seen here for example:

Good luck with your build! Hope you get the correct parts (whether buying or trading) soon.

Re: LR-260 buffer question

Appreciate the reply ORD, but I meant to say that I got carbine buffers and springs in their respective calibers. I have a carbine buffer tube for the AR-15, but got a rifle-length from Les Baer when I bought the PRS for the 260 from them. However, your point is still taken that I need the rifle buffer for the 260. I am past the return date on the carbine stuff, but if you guys happen to find somebody wanting to trade the opposite way feel free to shoot me a PM. In the meantime I will post in the WTT section.
Thanks again.

Re: LR-260 buffer question

Gotcha...I wasn't sure from your post if you'd bought for the respective calibers or if you'd just gotten 2 AR carbine buffers and springs, but that clears it up.

If you don't find a trade soon, I wouldn't hesitate to just post them for sale (you can always list them for sale OR trade). Shouldn't be too hard to unload those items as it seems like more and more folks are building .308 ARs these days in a variety of configurations that could use a carbine buffer/spring. Then you can take the proceeds and put them into your rifle buffer/spring. If I hear of/see anyone looking for these parts, I'll send them your way.

Re: LR-260 buffer question

Thanks, I will post them FS. I happened to pick up a nice buffer/spring combo on a Black Friday special. It's just a matter of getting all of the stuff I want to sell photographed, described, and posted.
