Hello all

I’m looking for a new handgaurd for my dpms 6.5 build. I don’t give a damn about mlok, keymod, or all the other crap. I would prefer solid or lightly vented. The only option that I NEED is a short rail at the 6 o’clock position. I have a jp on my 308 but would prefer a little cheaper. Any recommendations?

I have a Diamondhead VRS-T on my 6.5 creedmore and love it, the feel of the rounded edges of the "triangular" hand guard is great, check them out at Diamondhead-usa.com

Geissele MK4. I know you said you prefer solid, but the barrel nut design/mount is very important on a precision orientated rifle. The Geissele rails are bomb proof and the built in picatinny section makes for a solid bipod mount.

Aero Precision has some simple handguards that are top of the line and affordable. The M5 line is for .308, I have the 5.56 version on an SPR build and I really like it.

I just ordered a tacfire along with a moe rail. We’ll see. It’s was cheap enough to satisfy my cheap ass. I dont like the aero handgaurds, too holy (ummm). I do have three aero uppers and they fit super tight to my lowers and the barrels were snug.

Hey padom I don’t mean to derail my own post but do you have any links to a cheap lr308 assembled lower. I got a friend that wants one and doesn’t care about accuracy so the cheaper the better. I did order him a Wilson 308 barrel tho. My two are above my skill level.

yep. who called Tacfire top of the line? I've used 100's of Aero parts and the QC issues they have had and non existent CS over the past year has been terrible. Their handguards specifically laying on gas tubes. Far from top of the line. They aren't in the same leauge as SLR, Geissele, DD, etc.

I’m sorry who said top of the line? I wanted a cheap ass handgaurd that had a rail at 6 oclock. A long as the handgaurd doesnt touch the rail there all the same. Correct? I dare somebody to say to handgaurd effects accuracy then they better back it up. I buy on customer ratings. Read the ratings. They tell you enough. If 8 out 8 like it and it works that’s 100%. If 18 out of 98 has it break then that’s roughly 20% failure rate. Who cares about cs if it doesn’t break. Who cares about the best of the best as long as it fits YOUR needs. Sorry for the rant but I’m cheap and asking why???

It’s like trucks gentleman. Why buy a ford or Chevy or dodge when you could have a Toyota that doesn’t break. I myself drive a ford and it cost a lot. That’s why I’m cheap.

My .308 is all Aero Precision components (minus barrel, trigger, and gas block) and it runs like a sewing machine. Frankly I like their handguard design the best because it mounts to the upper, not the barrel nut. My work rifle is a LaRue OBR which utilizes the same concept and the Aero M5 is the only other upper/hanguard to my knowledge that does the same.

My opinion is it is Definitely worth the money, solid and comfortable, I hydro dipped mine and it looks fantastic ! I don't think you will be disappointed in it.

I have SLR's on mine. If you can grab one from someone for the $100 off, that's a good deal and I believe you'd be happy with it. I like both the Solo and Intrepid I have.

Naw man, there is just so much stuff it's like a kid in a candy store. It is for me anyway. I was just going nuts looking at suppressors. Haha. Let us know what you go with.

Wadger, wadger dat!! Suppressor...mirage w built in break. The elr guys say it's the best there is on .30cal n up. Pricey though. Tha ts what I'm going to put on my msr/ar10 custom in 300wsm I just got 2 weeks ago. If you wanna see it I'll try n post it here. It's on the new pictures thread this sight
