Lucas Bore Guides ?'s

I am planning on getting a Lucas bore guide but have a couple questions before I do. I know that the guides are made to fit the specific chamber size, but are they made so that a .308Win bore guide is the same for all .308Win. chambers? Is the only difference the length of the guide? Or are they made so that a .308Win Accuracy International guide would have different chamber dimensions than a .308Win Remington 700? Thanks for any help you can give me, and please go easy on me if this is a stupid question.

I don't know the answer to your question but, try sending an email to Mike. He usually replies very quickly.

Im farily sure that they are gun specific as Mike wanted the model and make of my rifle when I ordered, there may be time to get in on the order I did that ships next week. Give him a call or email.

blaserman - Mike's 700SA .308 and AW .308 guides are different lengths (slightly), different widths (bolt diameter). Here's a couple of pics for you:

I just placed an order with Mike last week for a 308 Win. Remington 700 S.A.

He stated that if you get an order in now he will ship out the next batch of boreguides on 09-13-11.

He was very helpful via email, I was unsure of what specs he actually needed so to play it safe I sent probably more than he needed to make a decision on the appropriate boreguide. It did not bother him and he was also helpful recommending which size Dewey boreguide rod to use with his boreguide.

Just tell Mike your rifle and caliber. If he doesn't have it on record, he will have you take some measurements and he will make one specifically for you and your rifle. He is a great guy and a pleasure to deal with. I personally have 4 of his guides!

The measurements Mike needs to know are: what chamber/caliber, what is the diameter of your cleaning rod, what is the diameter of the bolt, and action length/bolt length.

Yeah I told him what rifle I had and he replied with a price and ETA, he seemed like he knew the gun and had all the information he needs, but I tried to ask a feeler question to make sure that it would be for the specific rifle I have but he asked that I Google search to see how his guides work. So I asked here, and from this site and others it seems like he knows what he is doing so I placed my order for the 9-19-11 ship date. Thanks for the info everyone.

+1 and when I ordered mine Mr. Lucas needed to know what brand of cleaning rod I intended to use with it. Great product!

yes he asked what cleaning rod I use as well. I knew I was going to get one,from everything I have read from every site they are the best, so I never questioned quality, I was just trying to make sure they were rifle specific, which I now know they are. Thank everyone who weighed in on this, and I will let you know how I like it when I get it. The great thing is that it should arrive on my b-day or the day after so it's an extra present, from myself.

I have a Lucas guide and really like it. Keeps the crud out of my trigger and fits my rod exactly. Good product and service.

I can see that not all of his guides are the same from your post but does anyone know if any are interchangeable? Or are they all custom made to action and caliber?

Can anyone direct me with finding one for a surgeon 591r action in .308 Palma? I emailed Mike and he said he was not taking orders till November.

I am pretty sure they are rifle (chamber) specific. I just had him make me two and he was very specific about what rifles I had. For e.g., he can do AR-10 and AR-15, but not M1A/M14. He did guides for my Savage 110 BA 300 WM and my TRG-22. He could not do guides for my M1A or Sig 556.

I just ordered one for my 223 a couple weeks ago. Said his next batch would be going out around first week of May.

Give him a shout and see if he can get yours on the next order.

I get the sense he does a batch once a month. Great guy to deal with. Very responsive. In searching, people consistently said this was the best bore guide out there.
