I'm looking to buy a new lunchbox and only ever used the hard plastic ones. It seams to be a growing trend toward the soft type, it's getting difficult to find a hard one not to mention one I like. I'm not opposed to going with a soft lunch box but do they keep items as cool? Any thoughts on either? Maybe the idea of change is the only thing holding me back from switching

I've used the soft ones and they're insulated to keep things nice and cool for hours. Some of them even come with reusable ice packs which you can toss in to further "refrigerate" your meal.

Lunchbox? LARGE, PREFERABLY BLACK, MENACING!

Nice find, V. I was thinking more along these lines....something every sniper should take to the field with him/her self.

Hey, he is a newbie, after all.

I don't have a lot of experience with having to carry my lunch, only 30 years.
What worked best for me was the hard plastic Gott six pack coolers with the re-freezable water bottle that has a plastic screw that attaches the bottle to the lid.
I have 3 bottles. I would usually put the one "on duty" in the freezer when I got home and the other two were ready when needed, the third was on standby for when I forgot or had to go right back out. You can always drink the water too if your jug gets low or dry. Change the water regularly and always use good water. I usually carried a small frozen bottle of water in the box too. Seems like there was never too much water to drink.
My first one only lasted 23 years and then petered out. Had it's replacement in the shop from a garage sale for $2.
I don't know if they are even available now, probably not as they worked too well. Regards, FM

I just use plastic grocery sacks. That way I have a trash sack or two on hand to try and keep the inside of the truck clean. Since fixing A/C after 2 years without it beverages stay fairly cold and the candy bar that sneaks in every few weeks doesn't melt!

The best part is also I FINALLY get to be the cool kid on the short bus AND I get the tuna flavored window too!

If you'd quit takin' tuna-fish sammiches to school maybe it'd stop tastin' like tuna-fish on the way back. By the way, those sammiches are for lunch, leave 'em be until lunch time.
