User swappable would be awesome but probably wishful thinking. The fov on the lwts is nice to have for some situations

So the L3 guys updated me that it is looking more like late fall when these will be able to ship to me. Huge contract in place for these with a foreign entity and if they dont meet the contract timing.....not good for anyone. So my commercial order gets pushed back until their contractual obligations are met. Such is life when doing business with a mil supplier. I will keep my fingers crossed that it will be sooner rather than later.

Not the LWTS-LR yet but did recently add a CRATOS to our demo inventory. 640 60hz. They are mil/le only because of the 35mw IR laser that is collimated to center of display. Pretty cool unit though for CQB. 21 degree FOV unity. Wired rail mount remote. Fully submersible.
No screen reduction in clip-on mode so day optic mag limit is like a standard lwts (4-5x). Very small (16 oz) and works nicely as a stand-alone due to the crisp focus control (something the L3 thermals all seem to excel at). Color outline mode and love the fact that screen dims to NV settings so very easy to run with NVGs which from a SA standpoint is just amazing.

But we can say that if one had an LWTS-LR one could be fairly sure there is a factory which is up and running and which will stand behind it and fix it if it breaks. With the UTC-x we do not have that. If we break the UtC-x bad, then we toss it in the trash and find something else to use.

Haha ... actually YES. Depending on your definition of "break". I haven't seen one cracked open by force. But I know of two that have been unusable. One of them got fixed. The other is trying to get fixed. Depending on the issue, they might be able to be fixed. But depends on the issue.
Last I heard, the ship date keeps getting pushed out due to current (and future) production being required to fill government contracts. Commercial shipments come after government contracts! So, no firm ship date (to commercial customers yet) ... it is still a rolling six months (plus or minus) out there in the future. @DownRangeThermal may be able to elaborate!
These will not be available anytime soon, if at all. Maybe Botach can get them shipped out after an overseas customer gets them and they repackage. Think Surefire and Aimpoint. ;-)
The last update (friday) on the first order we made was mid Sept delivery which will make it almost 9 months from original PO submission.....but as with anything in the INSIGHT----->EOTECH chain... we will see.
Lately, most everything agency wise has been forecasted very accurately from the crew at EOTECH but there are multiple factors at play with these units. Our second batch is forecast for December. Cautious optimism.
