Last range trip experienced 6 light primer strikes (retried each with ignition) out of 50 rounds. Not a new issue but seems to be getting worse. Put rtf rounds in anothe gun and they went off. Disassembled bolt and nothing out of the ordinary was present. Would you replace the striker spring and if so what would be your recommend replacement

My older Remington with the J-Lock had a bad firing pin spring. Remington uses spring that bunch up and contact the sides of the bolt and it can cause problems. It can also cause bad groups because of the inconsistent ignition from shot to shot. I changed out the spring and everything was good. A while later I just replaced the entire firing pin, spring and bolt shroud to get rid of the j lock crap. I think I bought it from MidwayUSA or Brownells for about $60. I used 24 pound spring. Good luck and I hope this helps

Found the problem, not spring at all, disassembled bolt and cleaned every thing. I could still feel a slight drag on the bare firing pin when pushed through the breach face. Cleaned some more, finally stuck a small round file ment to clean tourch tips through he breach face and worked it around a bit, flushed with solvent and applied compressed air through the firing pin hole and out popped a slug from a pierced primer. No more drag on firing pin.

Something caused the primer to pop out of its pocket in the first place. Light firing pin strikes can cause this along with a hundred other things. If you noticed the firing pin spring bunched up, sticking or touching the the inside of the bolt when you removed the firing pin assembly from your bolt, that can cause light strikes. To deal with their shitty springs Remington just packs a ton of grease in the bolt, saving money on springs.
If you notice any holes in your primers or you have unexplained fliers swap the firing pin assembly with a known good one. It’s easier to replace the whole thing than trying to locate the exact cause. Gre Tan has a good video on YouTube and is the go to guy on problems like this. Hopefully it’s fixed and all this is academic. Good luck and happy shooting
