Picked up an M&P .22 lr pistol today from a local guy. He tried getting me a couple extra 12 rd magazines but his vendors did not have any, nor did they have any idea when they would be getting them in. Smiths website only has the 10 rd mags. Tried a google search for them and no luck.
Can anyone tell me where I can find a couple of these?

M&P 22 10 rd mags are easily converted to 12 rd.
o Depress lock button and remove the floor plate
o Slide out the spring retainer
o Remove the aluminum spacer
o Re-assemble
o You now have a 12 rd mag

No Charge . . .

Don't know about the mags, but you will love the pistol. I own 4 M&P pistols, and wouldn't trade them for 10 Glocks.

I found some 12 round mags on smiths website. Don't know if they are in stock but placed a order Friday. Hoping they will ship this week. I first looked under the M&P magazines and could only find the 10rds. I found them listed under 22lr mags.

Seriously? I mean, this is legit? Have you done this and do they function reliably?

Yes, seriously. Picked up an M&P from my dealer a few weeks ago and wanted another mag. All he had were 10 rd. I compared the mags and determined there was something internal preventing the follower from depressing as far as the 12 rd. Disassembled the mag hoping for something simple, and it was - the aluminum spacer.

Function? No problems.

"Legit"? If you are in a "10 rd state", thats your doing, or "undoing".

Unless I'm mistaken, the 12-rounders should be listed at S&W's site:

http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/s...playErrorView_N

I had the pistol for months and couldn't find anyone carrying the mags. I ended up ordering some of the 12-rounders direct from S&W in April when I heard that others were doing the same. It took S&W about 10 days to deliver, but it's better than reloading one mag over and over at the range!

Re: M&P 22 pistol 12rd magazines, cant find them!

Im going to keep searching. $38.50 shipped from S&W is high. The gun broker I use said when he can get them he charges around $25. If I come across any 10s or 12s at reasonable price Ill post it.
Anyone else try converting a 10 rd magazine to a 12?

Very interesting. Thanks. I would speculate that the manufactures just added that spacer to the 12 rd mag to make it 10-rd limit legal.

Re: M&P 22 pistol 12rd magazines, cant find them!

I bought a 10 rnd mag today and took out the aluminum spacer as Kevin stated. Mag will now hold 12 rounds, locks in/ejects from the pistol with no issues. Just have not had a change to fire a few rounds with it yet. I think the sentiment that the spacer was put in the mag to make it compliant with non hi-cap mag states is accurate.

Re: M&P 22 pistol 12rd magazines, cant find them!

Thanks ktdls7 for the info and stromshadow for verifying that. Still looking and can not find them in stock. Called every gun shop in the area, no luck. Every site I found that carries them, they are on back order. This is rediculous.

Re: M&P 22 pistol 12rd magazines, cant find them!

Had to call Smith & Wesson on another matter about an hour ago. According to their CS, they will be getting more of the 12rnd mags back in stock in about 2 weeks.

Re: M&P 22 pistol 12rd magazines, cant find them!

Good show on others having the same positive results as I did. Previously, I had run 36 rds through each mag to confirm function.

Yesterday (Wednesday), we had an "open range day", and I had an opportunity to "thrash" the mags hard. While some guys were running through the qual course, I ran the same 50 rd course four times with my M&P22 for fun. One stage is a "mandatory reload drill". I used both mags throughout the courses of fire - one the factory 12, and the other was the modified 10 with no failures. Where practical, the mags were kept "topped off".

I have confidence in this mod and will not hesitate to buy 10 rd mags. I only wish Model 41 mags worked.

Not in a hurry, but... </div></div>

Mine showed up a couple days ago.

Guess the boat from Germany finally showed up.
