Sidearms & Scatterguns M&P or Glock

Re: M&P or Glock

i recently aquired a m&p pro series in 9mm while its a nice gun and has a great trigger. i dont prefer it over the glock. Even with the different sized backstraps i just cant get the same feel as i do with the glocks and i shoot every glock i own including the sub compact more accurately then i do the smith. I see the smith being traded for a g34 or 17l in its near future

I'm sorry, do you believe I don't have enough experience with both to comment? (http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3140225#Post3140225)

What's your experience with both?

I did own both... until I started to experience problems with my personal M&P.

And there's an updated striker to deal with that.

All mechanical devices can have issues. The real question is how the manufacturers handle them.

I've never heard of any issues with Glock or S&W's customer service. S&W's is absolutely excellent; I've used it myself.</div></div>

Agreed. What's makes me distrustful of the striker still, is that S&W has claimed to have fixed it a handful of times, already.

It's like Glock with their Gen 4 springs. They've said "oh yea, we figured it out, use this spring now" about 4 times.

Here was one of the old "oh yea, we've got it now" charts:

Now here's the current guide:

They've been on the latest revision for a while, so it SEEMS like they have it figured out, but until I see months of rock solid performance across a large sample size with thousands of rounds, I'm personally going to remain skeptical.

Re: M&P or Glock

I carry a work-issued G21SF daily. This replaced the work-issued G21 I had before that. I also have a personally owned G26.

Glocks work...period.

If you switch across the board, you may have some issues with smaller handed shooters. They are not insurmountable. We have some pretty small females that still qualify without a problem.

I have shot the M&P's and I am getting a M&P9 for my wife before we head out to Thunder Ranch later this year.

Stock vs. Stock I feel the Glock has a better trigger and the M&P has better ergonomics. I can't attest to the durability of the M&P because I have not really seen any with thousands of rounds through them. I do know that with our Glock 21SF's there was a "break in" period where we would get some that would not return to battery on slide release. This was fresh out of the box. A couple hundred rounds later and they worked fine.

I don't think either will be a bad choice. To me the Glock feels more solid than the M&P, but that is just my impression. It has no bearing on the function of the handgun. If I didn't have a couple of fullsize .45's right now, I would probably have a M&P45 just because I love the way the grip shape feels.

Re: M&P or Glock

Glock all the way. I carry a gen 1 G17. Never has it failed me the most I have done was replace some springs ,for preventive messieurs not cause I had to,and up graded sights. A buddy of mine blew up his G21 from buying reloads from some guy at a gun show(NEVER DO THIS)that was extremely to hot. After words my friend called glock and sent it in,they replaced it. All that he had to do was cover the shipping to them. So awesome product and awesome costumer service.
