Gentlemen,
I saw a guy at the range today shooting a synthetic stocked standard M1A with a Harris Bipod mounted ahead of the sling plate[ making use of the 'drainage' hole in the bottom of the stock]. I asked him who made it, he replied Harris and I subsequently found two Harris bipod adapters, either of which look like they'd work well.
Which do I want for my own synthetic stocked M1A Scout;

This one;

Or this one

Anyone here using either of these ? How was installation ? Drop in ?

I tried both but couldn't get clearance without taking off too much material for me to feel comfortable. There's going to be significant stress on that stud so you don't want it to be flimsy. There's a mod out there that replaces the sling swivel with a short bit of rail (sorry, don't remember where I saw it) that looks to be a much better option.

You want to use this rail made by VersaPod which uses the two existing sling swivel holes. It allows you to have a swivel at all times and a rail for when you need one.

You'll need this mount to connect your Harris to the above rail.

All in all it's going to cost a few bucks for everything but I think it's the best solution for a wood or glass M14 stock.
