M1A Mags?

Re: M1A Mags?

Ive had good luck with the springfield armory mags through my socom 16. Haven't tried the CMI mags but have had the checkmates and my gun doesn't like them at all. Had nothing but problems with them. I know the springfield mags are expensive but they work.

Check-Mate Industries has manufactured (M1A) magazines for Springfield Armory, Inc. since at least 1994. CMI has been the sole supplier of USGI contract M14 magazines since 1985. In the last couple years, SA, Inc. has tightened up the width of the magazine well. A few CMI magazines have been a hair wider than specified so those magazines will be tough to insert in newer M1A rifles as well as LRB Arms and Chinese receivers. I have no financial interest in Check-Mate Industries.

IME, genuine 1960s production OM marked magazines tend to be the widest from that era. FWIW
